About the Role

A well-funded, Series A/B SportsTech company operating a commission-free, peer-to-peer sports prediction exchange is looking for a Lead Site Reliability & Security Engineer to join their hands-on, cross-functional engineering team in New York. This is a high-impact hybrid role blending reliability engineering and security operations for a regulated, exchange-grade trading platform. You'll own disaster recovery, observability, and security-by-design initiatives — keeping a high-throughput platform up, resilient, and compliant under load.

What You'll Do

  • Build and own disaster recovery, reliability, and observability frameworks for a regulated trading platform.

  • Lead security-minded infrastructure initiatives across engineering teams, embedding security at every layer.

  • Automate recovery and reliability processes through infrastructure-as-code.

  • Partner with product and compliance stakeholders to ensure exchange-grade uptime and auditability.

  • Act as the connective tissue between reliability engineering and security operations.

What We're Looking For

Dealbreakers (must-haves):

  • 5+ years of combined Site Reliability Engineering and security engineering experience in cloud environments.

  • Proven track record of disaster recovery and business continuity planning/implementation for regulated trading platforms.

Required skills & experience:

  • Leadership and cross-functional collaboration; ability to mentor teammates and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience designing and implementing observability strategies (metrics, logs, tracing) to support reliability at scale.

  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.

  • Strong incident response capabilities, including root-cause analysis and post-incident reporting.

  • Deep knowledge of security best practices across all infrastructure layers with a security-by-design mindset.

  • Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming systems.

  • Hands-on experience with both relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $185,000 – $235,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience.

  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

This role is based in New York, NY. On-site or hybrid presence is expected. This is not a fully remote position.
