Senior Citrix Engineer (CJIS)
The Senior Citrix Engineer will provide a high level of client service through excellent communication and detailed documentation. This role owns the organization's on-premises Citrix environments across its client base — designing, deploying, and supporting virtual apps and desktop delivery, serving as the change control authority for Citrix, and driving the standards, audits, and improvements that keep those environments stable. The role also works alongside other Solutions Engineers to deploy equipment and tools and to provide technical expertise during client onboarding.
Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
• Understand and follow the organization's established standards and processes to ensure a predictable client result.
• Mentor less experienced team members, including advising, coaching, teaching, and guiding them.
• Participate in Project Implementation Reviews and Design Reviews to ensure project success.
• Maintain accurate and real-time timesheets, recording complete and accurate notes of troubleshooting and communication with clients.
• Receive mentoring and feedback from peers and others.
• Take ownership of escalations, involving resources or other appropriate teams when necessary.
• Remain up-to-date with current and future Citrix and VDI technologies emerging in the industry, and be responsible for communicating and alerting stakeholders of any changes.
• Actively participate in Team Huddles, L10 Meetings, One-on-One Meetings, Trainings, and any other team meetings.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of the products and services offered.
Role-Specific Responsibilities
• Design, deploy, maintain, and support on-premises Citrix Virtual published applications and Full Desktops environments across multiple client sites.
• Administer the full on-premises Citrix stack, including Delivery Controllers, Citrix Studio, StoreFront, License Servers, and the site SQL databases.
• Manage and oversee Citrix licensing with LAS.
• Engineer, configure, and maintain NetScaler (Citrix ADC), including Citrix Gateway, load balancing, SSL offload, content switching, and leverage Cloud ADM for firmware management and other use cases that benefit deployments.
• Configure and manage image and provisioning strategies using Machine Creation Services (MCS), including building and maintaining master/golden images.
• Implement and manage user profile solutions using Citrix Profile Management and/or FSLogix.
• Deploy, configure, support, and proactively maintain the Citrix Workspace app and other Citrix technologies across client environments.
• Plan and execute Citrix version upgrades and site migrations while preserving the client experience.
• Monitor performance, availability, and capacity of Citrix environments (e.g., Citrix Director / monitoring tooling) and tune HDX and session settings for an optimal end-user experience.
• Implement and enforce security best practices across virtual apps and desktop delivery environments.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts (and Citrix SDK / automation) to automate administrative and deployment tasks.
• Troubleshoot escalated issues related to Citrix services and resolve complex technical problems for end-users.
• Create and maintain documentation related to Citrix architecture, configuration standards, policies, and procedures.
• Manage and optimize Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) as a complementary desktop-virtualization platform, including host pools, session hosts, and FSLogix profiles (strong plus).
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Citrix features, updates, and security best practices, and monitor external system changes or upgrades that could affect Citrix environments (e.g., Teams changes, Microsoft Apps, etc.).
Leadership & Program Responsibilities
• Serve as the technical owner and senior escalation point for all Citrix environments across the client base.
• Act as the Change Control Manager for Citrix, reviewing, approving, and coordinating changes to protect environment stability.
• Lead the research and development of solutions for Citrix environments and AVD solutions.
• Conduct structured audits of client Citrix environments to identify items that need to be fixed or stabilized.
• Define, track, and deliver training on the ongoing maintenance needs specific to each Citrix environment.
• Account for routine day-to-day changes that affect Citrix environments, including day-to-day support.
• Review and monitor open Citrix projects to keep them on track and aligned to standards.
• Act as the Change Control Manager for all Citrix clients and build a Citrix Change Catalog of standardized, repeatable changes.
• Partner with team members to identify elements of existing Citrix deployments that can be carried into AVD solutions.

Requirements
The selected applicant will be subject to criminal, credit, and department of motor vehicles background checks and must meet Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) requirements post-employment.
Education Requirements, Skills, and Knowledge
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to understand and analyze complex issues.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities efficiently and with a high level of quality.
• 10–15 years of relevant IT experience fully supporting SMB/MSP environments, including 5+ years of hands-on Citrix engineering across on-premises CVAD and NetScaler.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related experience.
• Relevant certifications such as Citrix Certified Professional – Virtualization (CCP-V) or Citrix Certified Expert – Virtualization (CCE-V) are required; a NetScaler/networking certification and Microsoft certifications covering Azure Virtual Desktop are a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of on-premises Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), NetScaler (Citrix ADC) including Citrix Gateway, load balancing, and StoreFront, MCS, and profile management (Citrix Profile Management / FSLogix).
• Experience owning change control / change management processes in a multi-client or enterprise environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) is a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of the platforms that underpin Citrix workloads, including Windows Server, Active Directory, and one or more hypervisors (Hyper-V).
• Experience developing and maintaining PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks across systems such as Windows Server, Active Directory, and Citrix.
• Experience creating and maintaining documentation related to IT policies, procedures, and standards.
