Solutions Architect – Unified Communications
At Tech Data, we're not just distributing technology, we're shaping the future of workplace communications. Our significant growth in Unified Communications has created exciting opportunities for talented professionals to work with leading global vendors, cutting-edge technologies and some of the most innovative customers in the market. For those looking to accelerate their careers, expand their expertise and make a real impact, we offer a collaborative environment where ambition and growth are encouraged and rewarded.
Job Purpose
In this role, the successful candidate will be the technical backbone of our Unified Communications practice across ANZ. You'll sit at the intersection of our vendor partners and our reseller/MSP community — designing solutions, running technical presales engagements, and building the packaged offerings that make it easy for partners to sell and deploy UC technology.
You'll be the deep technical authority the Business Manager and partner community lean on for architecture, integration, and vendor product expertise.
This is an individual-contributor, technical specialist role is suited to someone who has designed and deployed UC/CX solutions (UCaaS, CCaaS, SBC/telephony, or CPaaS) and enjoys translating vendor technology into practical, partner-ready solutions rather than owning commercial or people-leadership targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Design UC solutions — architect end-to-end Unified Communications solutions — voice, meetings, messaging, and contact centre — tailored to partner and end-customer requirements.
Support partner deals — provide hands-on technical presales support to partners: solution design, scoping, and technical objection-handling on active opportunities.
Own vendor technical alignment — act as the primary technical point of contact into UC vendor partners' solutions engineering and product teams.
Maintain certifications — hold and maintain relevant vendor accreditations across the UC portfolio (e.g. UCaaS, CCaaS, SBC/telephony platforms) and track roadmap changes.
Build packaged offerings — design and maintain reference architectures, bundles, and packaged solutions that partners can quote and deploy with minimal customisation.
Develop reusable technical IP — create solution briefs, deployment guides, and integration patterns (e.g. UC-to-Microsoft Teams, SBC-to-carrier, CX integrations) for partner reuse.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
6+ years' experience in a technical presales, solutions engineering, or solutions architecture role within UC, collaboration, or contact centre technology.
Hands-on design and deployment experience across UCaaS, CCaaS, SBC/telephony, or CPaaS platforms.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams direct routing/operator connect and how third-party UC/CX platforms integrate with it.
Experience running technical presales engagements — demos, PoCs, RFP responses, and solution scoping — ideally in a distributor, vendor, or channel-partner setting.
Ability to translate complex vendor technology into partner- and customer-ready solution documentation.
Comfort holding or working toward vendor technical certifications and keeping pace with fast-moving product roadmaps.
Strong communication skills — equally credible presenting architecture to a technical partner team or a customer's IT leadership.
