Senior Construction Manager (Data Centers) (m/f/d)
Your Role
As a Senior Construction Manager at Digital Realty, you will lead the successful delivery of mission-critical data center construction projects across the full project lifecycle. From new builds and fit-outs to infrastructure upgrades and campus expansions, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and customers, you will drive project execution while maintaining strong governance, risk management, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of data center construction projects from inception through completion.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and project controls.
- Oversee all construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Manage contractors, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to achieve project objectives.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans to ensure predictable delivery.
- Review and approve change requests, project documentation, payment applications, and invoices.
- Drive cost management initiatives and identify opportunities for savings and value engineering.
- Act as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders, providing regular project updates and reporting.
- Establish and maintain effective governance, communication, and reporting structures.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
What You Bring
- 10+ years of experience in construction project management, ideally within data centers, mission-critical facilities, or complex infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale construction projects safely, on time, and within budget.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project controls, contract management, and risk management.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of MEP systems and building services infrastructure.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Fluent English communication skills; an additional European language is highly desirable.
