As an Assistant Chief Engineer, you will support the Chief Engineer in managing the day-to-day operation of the Engineering department, ensuring all hotel facilities, equipment, and building systems are maintained to the highest standards. You will help lead the engineering team, oversee preventive maintenance programs, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and contribute to delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Here's what you'll do during a typical day:

Lead engineering operations: Support the Chief Engineer in managing daily Engineering Department operations, ensuring efficient maintenance activities, smooth facility operations, and compliance with hotel standards.

Maintain exceptional facility standards: Monitor the condition and performance of all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest standards.

Drive preventive maintenance excellence: Plan, coordinate, and follow up on preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure reliability of all engineering systems.

Inspire and develop the team: Supervise, guide, and support engineering colleagues through coaching, training, and performance feedback to build a skilled and motivated team.

Ensure safety and compliance: Maintain compliance with Hilton standards, local regulations, health and safety requirements, fire and life safety procedures, and environmental practices.

Optimize operational efficiency: Support energy conservation initiatives, cost-control measures, inventory management, and efficient utilization of engineering resources.

Coordinate technical solutions: Work closely with hotel departments, contractors, and service providers to resolve technical issues and support smooth hotel operations.

Respond to operational challenges: Provide timely support during maintenance emergencies, breakdowns, and urgent guest-related engineering requests while ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of engineering experience within the hospitality industry, in same role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building maintenance systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Previous experience with international hotel brands is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Proactive mindset with a strong commitment to guest satisfaction, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hotel environment and support a high-performing engineering team.
