Business Development Manager
Business Development Manager
Please Note: This is an on-site position located in Atlanta, GA. Crisp is committed to supporting candidates by offering relocation assistance for qualified applicants who require moving to the Atlanta area.
About the Role
As our Business Development Manager, you’ll lead and develop a team of 5–7 Business Development Representatives responsible for generating new pipeline and creating opportunities for Crisp.
This is a highly hands-on leadership role for someone who loves the energy, accountability, and competition of a true performance-driven sales environment. You’ll be close to the work every day - coaching your team, monitoring activity and results, identifying what’s working (and what isn’t), and finding new ways to reach prospects and improve performance.
Our BDR organization is still being built, which means you won’t be stepping into a finished playbook. You’ll help shape it. We’re looking for someone who can create buy-in with a young, ambitious team while setting an exceptionally high bar for performance and holding people accountable to it.
This is an opportunity to get in at the beginning of a new sales vision at Crisp and play a meaningful role in building the team, culture, and outbound engine that will fuel our next stage of growth.
Responsibilities:
Lead, coach, motivate, and develop a team of 5–7 BDRs, creating an environment where people are challenged to perform at their best.
Set a high bar for performance and hold the team consistently accountable to activity, pipeline, and goals.
Run daily team standups and end-of-day meetings to create alignment, visibility, and momentum.
Closely monitor outbound activity across calls, emails, texts, and other channels, using performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
Coach BDRs on prospecting, messaging, objection handling, execution, and the behaviors required to consistently hit their numbers.
Build strong followership with the team by balancing demanding performance expectations with respectful, motivating, and consistent leadership.
Help stand up and continuously improve Crisp’s outbound motion, testing new ideas and identifying creative ways to reach and engage prospects.
Track team performance against key metrics and quickly intervene when activity or results fall below expectations.
Manage performance directly and proactively, giving clear feedback and developing action plans when team members are not meeting the bar.
Partner closely with Revenue Acceleration to ensure sales tools, workflows, and processes are optimized for maximum productivity.
Collaborate with Marketing to ensure the BDR team has the messaging, content, and assets needed to effectively engage prospects.
Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities within the BDR motion and take ownership of improving them.
Help build the processes and operating rhythms of a growing BDR organization while remaining adaptable as the sales organization evolves.
Requirements:
You have firsthand experience working as a BDR and understand what it takes to succeed in a high-volume outbound environment.
You bring a true performance mentality - ambitious, hungry, competitive, and energized by measurable results.
You believe great leadership means setting a high bar, communicating expectations clearly, and holding people accountable without creating a culture of blame.
You’re an inspiring and motivating coach who gets genuine satisfaction from helping junior salespeople improve and win.
You know how to be demanding and respectful. You can deliver tough feedback while creating the trust and followership necessary to get the best out of your team.
You’re highly accountable and naturally take ownership of outcomes. When something isn’t working, your instinct is to figure out how to fix it rather than point fingers.
You’re professional and polished while still being willing to get scrappy and do what’s necessary to hit the number.
You’re creative and resourceful, particularly when it comes to finding new ways to reach prospects and improve outbound performance.
You’re comfortable operating in an environment where processes are still being built and things may change quickly.
You care more about outcomes than simply following a process and are willing to challenge or change the process when it isn’t producing the right result.
You’re a team player who can create a strong sense of fellowship, energy, and shared accountability within your team.
You’re comfortable working in a highly metric-driven environment with significant expectations around outbound activity and performance.
You live within commuting distance of Atlanta and are able to work from our Atlanta office Monday through Friday.
What Will Set You Apart
Previous BDR management experience is a strong advantage, particularly if you’ve successfully led a highly metric-driven outbound team. However, we care just as much about your leadership qualities, performance mindset, and ability to get the best out of people as we do about having followed a specific career path.
You’ll thrive here if your mindset is simple: we’re going to find a way to hit the number. You’re energized by ambitious goals, you don’t settle for “good enough,” and you want to build a team that feels the same way.
What’s In It for You
Meaningful earning upside. You’ll have an uncapped variable compensation structure with a higher risk/reward profile than you may be used to giving exceptional performers the opportunity to significantly out-earn their target compensation.
A chance to build, not just inherit. You’ll join a fast-growing organization at the beginning of a new sales vision, with the opportunity to influence how we build our BDR function, outbound strategy, operating rhythms, and performance culture.
Two years that can accelerate your career. This is an experience-builder. Over the next two years, a successful person in this role will have the opportunity to say they built and developed a high-performing BDR team, helped stand up an outbound engine, created scalable sales processes, and drove measurable pipeline and revenue impact inside a growing organization.
A performance culture built for people who want more. If you’re ambitious, competitive, and motivated by being measured against real outcomes, you’ll be surrounded by people who expect a lot of themselves and each other.
Benefits:
100% Company Paid Health/Vision/Dental.
4% 401K Match.
Generous Paid Time Off.
Paid Parental Leave for New Parents.
Paid Relocation for Non-Local Candidates.
