Job Description
As a T1 Technical Architect – MuleSoft & Solace, you will be our hands-on specialist for API-led connectivity and event-driven integration. Reporting to the P1 Technical Architect Manager, you will work closely with senior T2 architects to design, build, test, and maintain our global application interfaces and event mesh networks. Using MuleSoft and Solace PubSub+, you will connect our internal enterprise applications (such as SAP S/4HANA) with cloud services, regional platforms, and commercial partners, ensuring real-time, highly reliable, and secure data flows.
The Five Principles in Action for This Role
- Quality: You will build and test precise API specifications (RAML/OAS), robust Mule flows, and Solace event schemas that protect the integrity of our enterprise data. Your extreme attention to detail ensures that millions of messages, transactions, and event payloads route cleanly through our global ecosystem without bottlenecks or data loss.
- Responsibility: You will own the day-to-day stability, performance, and health of our MuleSoft and Solace integration lines. When automated workflows or real-time event streams hit technical bottlenecks, you take immediate personal ownership to investigate, patch, and restore standard operations.
- Mutuality: In a CPG business, our success is entirely linked to the success of our business segments, retail partners, and external systems. You will design and deploy clear, reliable, and standardized API-led integrations and event topics that make data sharing simple, painless, and mutually beneficial.
- Efficiency: You will combat operational waste by building reusable API templates, shared Mule fragments, and standardized event schemas. By minimizing redundant integrations and leveraging pub/sub messaging patterns, you help the business scale digital products with maximum speed and minimum cost.
- Freedom: We support your professional growth and technical curiosity. Guided by our long-term generational mindset, you are encouraged to propose innovative, modern integration approaches (such as combining real-time APIs with event-driven architectures) and explore advanced MuleSoft and Solace platform capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Hands-On API & Event-Driven Development
- Develop, test, and deploy end-to-end APIs, integration flows, and event-driven patterns using the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (Studio, API Manager, CloudHub/RTF) and Solace PubSub+ (Event Portal, brokers).
- Design and build RAML/OAS API specifications and implement API-led connectivity architectures (Experience, Process, and System API tiers).
- Configure Solace PubSub+ message queues, topics, subscriptions, and event mesh networks for high-throughput, real-time messaging.
- Build and maintain standard integration points with internal ERP systems—specifically SAP S/4HANA—using SAP Connectors, OData, and modern enterprise integration patterns.
2. Platform Integration & Onboarding
- Execute technical onboarding and connectivity setup for applications, databases, and third-party SaaS services entering the API and event mesh networks.
- Conduct performance, load, and end-to-end testing of integration flows and event streams to validate low-latency and reliable message delivery.
- Ensure all MuleSoft APIs and Solace event configurations adhere strictly to global API design standards, security guidelines (OAuth, TLS), and internal architecture blueprints.
3. Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Operations
- Monitor the health of the MuleSoft and Solace environments, tracking API transaction rates, response times, message queues, and event subscription backlogs.
- Provide rapid Level 2/3 technical support for integration failures, runtime exceptions, API gateway issues, connection drops, and message queue blockages.
- Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) on persistent runtime issues and implement permanent structural fixes (such as implementing robust error-handling, caching, or reconnection strategies).
- Help maintain detailed documentation for API contracts, event schema definitions, topology diagrams, and deployment pipelines.
4. Technical Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work under the mentorship of T2 Technical Architects to align MuleSoft and Solace designs with the wider Global Integration Hub architecture (such as SAP BTP IS, Azure IS).
- Identify opportunities to migrate legacy point-to-point integrations and file transfer protocols to modern, real-time API or event-driven patterns.
- Assist in platform maintenance, coordinate runtime patch testing (Mule runtimes, Solace firmware), and manage digital certificates/keys for secure connections.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Technical Competency & Platform Expertise
- Integration Focus: 3+ years of direct, hands-on experience designing, developing, and managing integration solutions using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (CloudHub/RTF) and/or Solace PubSub+ (or equivalent enterprise event brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, though Solace is highly preferred).
- API Design & Standards: Deep understanding of RESTful API principles, RAML/OAS, HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, and XML formats.
- Messaging & Event-Driven Patterns: Solid experience with pub/sub architectures, message queueing, event-driven design, JMS, MQTT, AMQP, and Solace event mesh concepts.
- ERP/System Integration: Basic to intermediate knowledge of integrating with SAP ERP/S4HANA environments using MuleSoft SAP Connector, IDocs, or RFCs.
Industry & Domain Knowledge
- CPG/FMCG Familiarity: Experience working within a fast-moving consumer goods, retail, or logistics-heavy business environment.
- Supply Chain Processes: Good understanding of standard physical supply chain movements, primarily Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and warehouse operations (3PL integrations).
Soft Skills & Collaboration
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with a systematic, calm approach to diagnosing system errors and data mismatches.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to coordinate technical requirements smoothly with internal and external IT squads.
- Growth Mindset: Strong willingness to learn, adapt to new cloud-based integration trends, and expand skills into adjacent integration technologies (like Azure or SAP BTP).
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or equivalent practical work experience.
- Certifications in MuleSoft (e.g., MuleSoft Certified Developer, MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect) or Solace (e.g., Solace Certified Developer/Architect) are highly regarded.
