Principal Data Center Electrical Product Development Engineer

The ideal candidate combines deep electrical engineering expertise with experience in product development, supplier quality, equipment qualification, failure analysis, and continuous product improvement.

 

Responsibilities

Product Development & Engineering

· Lead the technical development, evaluation, qualification, and lifecycle management of mission-critical electrical equipment for Oracle data centers.

· Develop equipment technical requirements, specifications, validation plans, and acceptance criteria to ensure products meet Oracle performance, reliability, safety, and operational objectives.

· Collaborate with manufacturers and engineering partners during product design, prototype development, factory testing, and product qualification.

· Drive design improvements and product enhancements based on field experience, operational data, lessons learned, and emerging technologies.

· Evaluate new technologies and electrical products for deployment within next-generation Oracle data centers. 

Equipment Quality & Reliability

· Lead root cause investigations for electrical equipment failures, reliability concerns, warranty issues, and field quality events.

· Develop corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve product reliability and reduce operational risk.

· Define equipment qualification processes including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), reliability testing, environmental testing, and long-term performance validation.

· Establish reliability metrics, failure trends, and performance analytics to support continuous product improvement.

· Partner with Quality, Operations, and Manufacturing teams to improve product consistency and long-term equipment performance.

Supplier Technical Leadership

· Serve as Oracle's primary technical interface with electrical equipment manufacturers and suppliers.

· Review supplier designs, manufacturing processes, quality documentation, testing procedures, and engineering change requests.

· Support supplier audits, technical assessments, product qualification, and manufacturing readiness reviews.

· Evaluate supplier technical capabilities and participate in strategic sourcing decisions for critical electrical equipment.

 

Standards & Continuous Improvement

· Develop and maintain Oracle electrical equipment standards, technical specifications, approved product lists, testing procedures, and engineering guidelines.

· Lead engineering reviews for product changes, component substitutions, obsolescence management, and qualification of alternate suppliers.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment quality, manufacturability, reliability, maintainability, and total cost of ownership.

· Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices, technical training, and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Qualifications

 

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

· 5+ years experience in electrical equipment engineering, product development, product qualification, manufacturing engineering, supplier quality, or reliability engineering.

· Strong technical knowledge of mission-critical electrical equipment, including:

o Medium- and low-voltage switchgear

o UPS systems

o Power Distribution Units (PDUs)

o Busway systems

o Transformers

o Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)

o Backup generators

o Protection and control systems

o Power monitoring equipment

· Experience developing electrical equipment specifications, validation plans, qualification requirements, and technical standards.

· Demonstrated ability to review electrical drawings, product documentation, manufacturing packages, test reports, and equipment submittals.

· Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), equipment commissioning, and product qualification activities.

· Experience leading root cause analysis using structured methodologies such as 8D, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, Fishbone, or Five Whys.

· Working knowledge of supplier quality systems, manufacturing processes, quality assurance, and continuous improvement methodologies.

· Ability to evaluate technical risk, recommend engineering improvements, and drive alignment across engineering, quality, procurement, manufacturing, operations, and supplier organizations.

· Strong technical writing, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.

· Experience with reliability engineering, failure analysis, lifecycle management, and field performance analytics is highly desirable.

· Familiarity with IEEE, NFPA, NEC, NEMA, IEC, UL, and other applicable electrical engineering standards.

· Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional certification is preferred.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $114,600 to $234,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
