We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, focused on full-stack development, to join the team building Curai Health’s AI product, an AI native care experience where patients get diagnosis, treatment, and prescriptions through conversation. You’ll work on a universal React Native app (iOS, Android, and web) and a FastAPI python service that orchestrates LLM agents, clinical logic, and care delivery (labs, prescriptions, and video visits). The product is greenfield enough that you’ll be able to shape its architecture, yet real enough to service hundreds of daily patients. About the Senior Software Engineer
- A day in the life of a Curai senior full-stack engineer is spent doing things like:
- Working across the stack to drive high-leverage projects from concept through to completion
- Up-leveling the team on something you have expertise in - API or system design, building applications, cloud infrastructure, healthcare data, or something else entirely
- Working with a diverse multi-disciplinary team that includes software engineers, machine learning researchers, physicians, product managers, and UX researchers
- Developing new and updating existing user-facing features
- Collaborating with backend engineers to establish consistent APIs across our services, and good patterns for interactions with our API on the frontend
- Leading and guiding cross-team, “big picture” application architectural decisions
- Producing detailed technical specifications and documentation for features
- Writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for new features
- Meeting with product owners, AI/ML researchers, doctors, and other stakeholders, using Agile practices to define, negotiate, and estimate features for our applications
What You'll Need
- We recognize not everyone will have all of these requirements. If you meet most of the criteria below and you’re excited about the opportunity and willing to learn, we’d love to hear from you. You should have:
- 5-7 years of professional experience as a full-stack engineer owing features from design, to delivery, to continued iteration.
- Professional experience with React - components, hooks, state management, and performance.
- Python backend experience, ideally with async frameworks (FastAPI, Starlette)
- Experience with both NoSQL and relational databases - you know when to reach for DynamoDB vs Postgres, and how to model around access patterns.
- Comfort with asynchronous workflows - background jobs, retries, idempotency, and eventual consistency.
- Demonstrated experience raising product excellence using testing as your leverage - e2e coverage, visual regression testing, and CI to ship multiple times daily without fear
- An understanding of key components of our platform and infrastructure, including AWS, Docker, Terraform, AI / ML technologies, Git, and RESTful services
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field preferred - You should be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of CS fundamentals
- React Native / Expo, or any cross platform mobile experience
- Visual/snapshot regression testing, Storybook, harness engineering
- Experience building design systems / component libraries
- Accessibility (WCAG, screen readers)
- LLM application experience - streaming, tool calling, eval driven iteration
- Temporal or other durable execution systems
- Experience working with healthcare data (CDA/CCD/FHIR) is a definite plus
