As an expert in financial systems, administer the finance system, champion internal controls, prepare accurate and timely accounts for the business.

Techno-functional Finance Systems role responsible for supporting SAP and other finance systems, maintaining financial system integrity, managing master data and mapping tables, supporting financial reporting processes, fixed asset accounting, allocation cycles, system testing, upgrades, internal controls, and business process improvement initiatives. The role requires a blend of accounting knowledge, financial systems expertise, advanced Excel skills, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capabilities.

1.    Manage the Assistant Systems Accountants in accordance with company policies and procedures    
2. Administer IT systems used in Finance in accordance with Finance requirements    

3. Assist Fin Ops team in preparing the financial accounts for the business, and deliver a financial accounting service according to agreed service levels, working standards, policies and procedures    
4. Maintain records so that systems work can be assessed, assigned to systems staff, and tracked    
5. Champion internal controls and the integrity of financial systems, and report non-compliance    
6. Act in partnership with staff in the business to ensure that services provided support the business, and that all parties communicate effectively, and work co-operatively and with mutual respect 
-    Coordinate the maintenance of documentation of working practices and procedures
-    Maintain the chart of accounts, including creating new accounts, cost centres, profit centres, etc, ensuring changes are authorised and documented
-    Liaise with team managers in Finance, other stakeholders, and IT re the allocation of access to drives and directories, SAP, and other Finance systems
-    Oversee access rights of new/left users to relevant systems ensuring that the level of access is appropriate to each person’s job role, and is authorised
-    Manage the day to day running of finance systems, and ensure data integrity

7. Open and close periods at month end

Perform reconciliations of interfaces between SAP and other systems, including Advantage, IPM, Themis
Run and check the daily controls reports, investigate the reasons for differences, and work with IT to resolve problems
Ensure compliance with internal & external audit requirements, and legal requirements such as the Data Protection Act

  • Qualifications Bachelor's Degree/MBA Finance/ Qualified or semi qualified Chartered Accountant/Part qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • At least 3 years of operational experience as part of the System Administration/General Accounting 
  • Fixed Asset accounting knowledge preferred
  • Must be computer literate; Excel, Word
  • Knowledge of SAP, IPM, OneSource, Tagetik preferred
  • Good written and Oral communication skills
  • Pro-active approach.

  • Business partnering and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Previous experience in a systems accountant role at a large organisation
