Position Summary:
The Senior Finance & Accounting Analyst is a high-impact role for the right candidate who enjoys turning accurate financial information into practical business insight. This role will support company-wide accounting, play an active role in month-end close and financial reporting, and help leadership understand the trends, risks, and opportunities behind the numbers.

In this role, the Senior Finance & Accounting Analyst will be a trusted partner to the Director of Finance, helping deliver timely, accurate financial information while improving how RJN analyzes, reports, and communicates financial results. The successful candidate will be proactive, curious, and comfortable working with stakeholders across the organization to make Accounting a responsive, solutions-oriented partner to the business.

Position Responsibilities:
• Own the month-end close: journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and monthly financial statements, built into a strong reporting package that provides leadership with valuable monthly insights.
• Dig into the numbers: analyze monthly variances, spot trends before they become problems, and bring the Director of Finance, CFO, and business stakeholders solid recommendations.
• Be a go-to accounting partner for Project Managers: set up new projects, prepare client invoices, and help PMs understand what's driving revenue, cost, and profitability on their projects.
• Be a key contributor to the annual ESOP process, from valuation coordination to report preparation to participant communications to payment processing, a distinctive part of this role as an accounting team member at an employee-owned organization.
• Keep essential recurring processes (lease accounting and rent payments, sales/use tax filings, and select invoice/cost entries) running smoothly and efficiently.
• Lead process improvement and special projects that make accounting and finance more valuable to the business, bringing curiosity and a bias toward better ways of working.

Essential Skills & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• CPA or CPA-eligible status preferred; strong technical accounting foundation required.
• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a professional services or engineering, project-based, environment.
• Experience using computerized accounting systems; ability to learn new tools, reporting processes, and workflow improvements quickly.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines, competing priorities, and detailed follow-through.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, well-supported work.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to connect detailed accounting activity to broader business results.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly to both accounting and non-accounting audiences.
• Ability to manage workload to meet deadlines while remaining flexible as business priorities change.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and move work forward independently while knowing when to collaborate or escalate.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel; interest in using technology and automation to improve accounting workflows.
• Collaborative team player who builds productive relationships and enjoys supporting colleagues across the company.
• Able to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse group of people, roles, and communication styles.

Preferred Skills & Experience:
• CPA certification or active progress toward CPA; experience with project accounting, professional service
