As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing Cleveland Clinic's electrical engineering standards to ensure a safe, reliable, and high-performing built environment that supports world-class patient care. You will analyze and evaluate existing facilities, proposed construction projects, and electrical infrastructure to ensure compliance with applicable codes, organizational standards, and industry best practices while optimizing system performance, reliability, and resiliency.

In this role, you will exercise independent judgment and technical expertise while collaborating with internal stakeholders, design professionals, contractors, state and local regulatory agencies, code officials, insurers, and other external partners to ensure the successful execution of electrical engineering initiatives and compliance with all applicable requirements.

A caregiver in this position works days Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Evaluate planned facility acquisitions for infrastructure operation and management issues.
  • Oversee infrastructure components of planning and design.
  • Assist in resolving issues during construction ensuring codes, plans and standards are followed; perform engineering consultation and troubleshooting for existing building and systems and provide engineering support in the disposal of buildings and systems.
  • Maintain, update, and is the authority for the Cleveland Clinic Electrical Standards and federal, state and local codes and regulations.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies in the electrical engineering field, federal, state and local codes and regulations, environmental concerns and other issues, which may affect electrical systems.
  • Develop, bid and supervise the execution of facility repair projects to support the Cleveland Clinic enterprise.
  • Perform engineering studies and assessments.
  • Prepare reports and deliver presentations to Facilities Management and internal clients.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET Accredited Institution
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Five years Electrical design and/or operation experience in an industrial, commercial, or institutional facility required; a minimum of three years of Health Care Electrical design and/or operations experience
  • Can read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Project Management experience including coordinating maintenance, renovation and construction projects 
  • Experience with Generators, NEC application in a Hospital setting, and health care fire and life safety codes and regulations
  • Experience with Transformers, Substations, Automated Transfer Stations (ATS)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods•

  • Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time•

  • Ability to travel throughout the Cleveland Clinic health system•

  • Ability to travel to locations outside of the Cleveland Clinic health system•

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment•

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information•

  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to 25 pounds (lbs.)•

  • Ability to inspect construction and renovation sites••

  • Climbing of ladders and scaffolding is required•
