Job Description

***This is a seasonal position.***

The Resource Specialist I assists the FEPP/FFP program leader by controlling the vegetation of the federal property holding area (yard) by mowing and, if necessary, application of herbicide spray. Assist the FEPP/FFP program mechanic/yard manager (Fleet Specialist) in pulling parts and servicing program-related equipment as necessary and with the loading/unloading of equipment. Will also assist with disposal auctions.


Responsibilities:
-Use equipment and chemical application (herbicide) to control vegetation in support of program operations.

-Assist program staff in support of the FEPP/FFP mission. Assist in the pulling of parts and servicing program-related equipment as necessary. Assist in the loading and unloading of equipment from transport haul trucks and trailers.


Education and Experience:
-High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-No prior experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of outdoor and wildlife safety procedures.
-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
Valid commercial driver’s license. National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) training and Red Card Certification.


Other Requirements:
Ability to exert heavy force. Ability to lift heavy objects. Meets annual physical fitness standards which include successfully completing a two mile walk in 30 minutes or less with a 25 pound pack. Requires exposure to harsh environmental conditions and extensive physical activity. Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends. Emergency response will be required. Must be able to report to Dispatch office within 30 minutes. Emergency response may result in exposure to stressful situations for extended periods of time. Travel required.
