The data entered into our item setup systems can make or break a positive experience for our guest. It’s the mission of the Data Quality team, using best in class data governance checks, to reduce and improve friction points for our guest on Target.com and in stores. As an Item Data Quality Analyst, you would join a global industry leading team, specializing in data management and governance. You would focus on large data quality initiatives, handling data remediation and help guide Target towards a preventative state for data quality issues in the future.

The Item Data Quality Analyst (IDQA) will lead the Data Quality (DQ) strategy within the Enterprise Item Data Governance team. The IDQA will create and analyze DQ performance metrics and drive teams to take action on DQ priorities affecting the entire enterprise. 

The IDQA is responsible for governance and prioritization of Data Quality and the Metadata Data Quality System, by maintaining a strong focus on both operational and guest facing data quality in order to improve the guest experience and drive enterprise excellence.

Additionally, the IDQA is responsible for providing leadership in special projects aimed at solving chronic item data quality problems by way of identifying roadblocks, system changes, process improvements, and best methods.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive continues improvement for Data Quality Excellence of the Enterprise.
  • Lead the creation and execution of the end to end data quality process.
  • Create, Monitor and Analyze DQ Performance metrics.
  • Measure Data completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and relevancy through-out the enterprise.
  • Develop Enterprise DQ strategies by identifying the most impactful data quality areas to focus on, set prioritization within these areas, and partner with cross functional teams to understand business or guest impact.
  • Create and Maintain Strong partnerships with Cross Functional Teams.
  • Metadata Rule Governance
  • Establish criteria for Global Data Quality System rules and enforce to ensure the rules are consistent and sustainable.
  • Manage the Rule Governance process.
  • Challenge partners when Rule Governance best methods are not being followed.
  • Define, Create, and Maintain Data Quality rules to address the DQ business and guest facing needs within Data Quality System.
  • Review existing Data Quality System rules and analyze data results to ensure that rules are still viable and pulling intended results.
  • Tools and Processes – Data Quality System (Metadata Tool) and Product Catalog tools.
  • Partner with Product teams on testing of new UI requirements and technology enhancements within Data Quality System.
  • Identify opportunities with new requirements and strategize with product team on how to correct before implementation.
  • Identify item issues preventing maintenance or desired guest facing experience and partner with Product teams to quickly correct issues.
  • Develop an expertise level of knowledge of item processes, system connections (Item, Inventory, Pricing), and the team member interaction model.
  • Pro-actively communicate best methods that need to be implemented within the Enterprise Item based on data quality patterns and trends you are seeing.
  • Take on advanced roles & responsibilities, including special projects as assigned.
  • Identify impacted stakeholders and create engagement strategy for Data Quality Manage the timely resolution and response of all data quality inquiries.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proven self starter

  • Experience working with large systems of complexity
  • Data Analytics
  • Preferer SQL or other basic programming experience
  • Fundamental understanding of Data Governance and Data Quality principles

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
