Job Description

As part of Pine Technical and Community College’s commitment to student success and ongoing institutional effectiveness, this position provides academic and financial aid advising for a case load of PSEO and undergraduate students. Advising responsibilities emphasize a holistic approach to help students understand academic requirements, navigate financial aid processes, and make informed decisions that support their educational goals. 


In addition, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, communicating, and evaluating a comprehensive plan to increase access and inclusion, ultimately supporting improved retention and graduation outcomes. The role coordinates and facilitates campus-wide academic support services through Pine Technical and Community College’s Academic Skills Center and serves as the Campus Diversity Officer (CDO).

Salary Range: $28.75- $42.16/hourly

Minimum Qualifications

•Two years of professional-level experience in interpreting and applying institutional policies and procedures that include the use of risk management practices and basic fiscal procedures.  
•Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional partners to implement best practices and remove barriers.
•Demonstrated independent decision-making skills along with the ability to communicate and collaborate with others to successfully meet project and/or campus goals.  
•Experience supporting access and inclusion initiatives, including coordinating academic accommodations and services for students with disabilities. 
•Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in supporting high-risk populations from diverse backgrounds.
•Demonstrated ability to interpret governing standards to effectively develop, execute, and manage services.
•Proficiency with a variety of word processing, database and web-based applications sufficient to accurately collect data and create reports
 

Preferred Qualification 

•Bachelor’s degree (or Bachelor’s degree in progress) in Counseling, Student Development/Affairs, Residence Life, Outdoor Leadership, Psychology, Business, Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Work, Education, Sociology, or a similar discipline.
•Three or more years of experience within higher education student services, preferably in the Minnesota State College and Universities system.  
•Extensive knowledge of college courses and programs including an understanding of course descriptions, syllabi, and other academic resources including financial aid.
•Progressively responsible experience administering disability services/accessibility accommodations under applicable American with Disability Act (ADA) and/or Section 504 or similar laws. 
•Experience with a student record system; as well as other data and communication tools.
•Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulatory laws such as the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the MN Governmental Data Privacy Act (MGDPA). Understanding history, philosophy, and critical issues in higher education are sufficient to develop programs and resolve issues. 
•Ability to speak another language in addition to English
•Valid driver’s license to conform to Minnesota State vehicle use criteria and consent to a motor vehicle records check.
 

Other Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor vehicle Records check.
