Engineering Manager, Web Platform - Sigma
Engineering Manager, Web Platform
Sigma is transforming how businesses run by delivering a high-performance platform on the modern data architecture. As we grow the engineering team, we are looking for engineering leaders who want to build great products, devise product development, prioritization, and execution strategies, and develop strong teams through career development, coaching, mentoring, performance evaluations, promotion cases, and other managerial responsibilities.
About us
Sigma is the AI Apps and agentic analytics platform built on the cloud data warehouse. Business and technical teams use Sigma to explore live data, build intelligent applications, and automate critical workflows, all without moving data or breaking governance. Sigma supports a spreadsheet interface, SQL, Python, and native AI in a single governed workspace, giving every team the speed to act and IT the control to scale. Sigma is trusted by more than 2,000 customers, including AMD, Duolingo, Colgate-Palmolive, and JPMorgan Chase.
Sigma announced its $80M Series E financing in May 2026. The round was led by Princeville Capital, with new strategic investors Databricks Ventures, ServiceNow Ventures, and Workday Ventures participating alongside returning investors Altimeter Capital, Avenir Growth Capital, D1 Capital Partners, K5 Global, NewView Capital, Spark Capital, Sutter Hill Ventures, and XN. This milestone follows Sigma reaching $200M in annual recurring revenue in April 2026, with more than 100% year-over-year growth and 1.1 million new active users added in the latest fiscal year.
About the role
We are looking for a self-motivated engineering leader to lead a team of high-performing engineers responsible for Sigma’s Web Platform.
The Web Platform team builds the frontend infrastructure and foundational platform used by more than 100 frontend engineers across Sigma. Its work includes frontend build systems, continuous integration and deployment, shared React component libraries, design systems, internationalization, accessibility, web performance, and the overall developer experience for teams building Sigma’s user interface.
You will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, partnering closely with senior engineers, product and design leaders, and company founders.
What you will be doing
Lead, coach, and develop a team of frontend infrastructure and platform engineers, helping team members realize their potential and achieve their career development goals.
Own the execution and delivery of the Web Platform roadmap, improving the foundational systems used by frontend engineers throughout Sigma.
Guide the evolution of Sigma’s frontend build systems, CI/CD pipelines, package publishing workflows, JavaScript and TypeScript tooling, and deployment infrastructure.
Lead the development and adoption of Sigma’s internal design system, including reusable React components and shared UI patterns used across the product.
Support the development of component libraries and platform capabilities that allow AI agents and engineering teams to generate consistent, high-quality user interfaces.
Improve frontend performance, including application load times, responsiveness, bundle efficiency, and the overall quality of the user experience.
Help establish scalable approaches to accessibility, internationalization, localization, currencies, numerical formats, privacy, and regulatory requirements across Sigma’s user interface.
Collaborate with cross-functional groups, senior engineers, company founders, and the executive team to devise platform strategies that create measurable product and engineering impact.
Own technical and organizational decision-making for the team while maintaining a low-ego, collaborative leadership style.
Participate in architecture and implementation discussions while helping the team make pragmatic decisions that balance platform quality, developer productivity, and product delivery.
You
Love working with world-class engineers, product managers, designers, and architects to solve complex problems and create meaningful business impact.
Have 5+ years of technical experience and 2+ years of people management experience.
Have experience leading frontend, web infrastructure, frontend platform, developer experience, or design systems teams.
Have a strong technical background in modern frontend engineering, including TypeScript, JavaScript, React, and the systems that support large-scale web application development.
Understand frontend build systems, CI/CD, JavaScript bundling, package management and publishing, testing infrastructure, and modern web deployment workflows.
Understand how shared component libraries and design systems improve product consistency, engineering velocity, accessibility, and maintainability.
Care deeply about the daily experience of engineers and have a track record of improving developer productivity through better platforms, tooling, documentation, standards, or advocacy.
Have hired, managed, and developed high-performing engineering teams across different levels of experience.
Can establish credibility with senior technical contributors and effectively influence cross-functional stakeholders without relying solely on organizational authority.
Bring strong judgment, maturity, and emotional intelligence to complex technical and interpersonal situations.
Are opinionated and have strong product sense, while remaining open to new information and using data to make decisions and unblock the business.
Are curious, love to learn, and enjoy digging into new technologies to determine when they can help solve technical challenges.
Have demonstrated strong technical architecture and engineering skills, along with the ability to switch between technology paradigms.
Have strong computer science fundamentals.
