Job Profile Summary 

Data Product Manager is an exciting business focused IC role, part of the critical Data, Analytics and AI function being built grounds-up within India as part of Global Capability Center (GCC) for Wealth Management (WM). The DPM in partnership with the Chief Data and Analytics Officer, India Data and AI head, business and Technology Practices will build and deliver a cohesive Data, Analytics and AI agenda and roadmap for WM.

Primary responsibilities include owning, championing, visioning, road-mapping, executing and governing the lifecycle of data products (domains) across the Wealth and other businesses of Northern Trust, autonomously running several key projects on Enterprise Data Mesh and WM Data Cloud, interaction with business & tech stakeholders and ensuring delivery of data-driven value for NT’s clients & business capabilities.

Job Description

Lead development of a multi-year Data, Cloud and Data Products agenda and roadmap for WM, in collaboration with Chief Data Officer, India Data and AI head, business teams, Global Center of Excellence and technology practices, to solve complex client and operational challenges through data solutions. Prior experience delivering data products in premier financial institution and academic qualifications from institutions such as IIT or IIM.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Implements and maintains a data products pipeline for data mesh and cloud implementation establish data governance structure for selected data management capabilities
  • Leads the vision, strategy and implementation approach for our key data products, to deliver on the desired requirements and business outcomes of WM business.
  • Own the e2e lifecycle of data products in the entire wealth ecosystem - including their deployment, change management, data management, data quality, access controls, usage, availability, business value delivery and cost of ownership.
  • Optimize on the cost and efficiency and continuously work with WM business teams to reduce the risk associated with data products. Identifies and solves technical and operational problems; understands and recognizes broader impact across the department
  • Work with technology delivery teams to share problem statement/business opportunity, desired outcomes and the functional & non-functional requirements for data products. Actively participate in user acceptance testing and sign-off for go live.
  • Accountable for useful KPIs & Metrics around data products lifecycle, to support the overall WM business KPIs & desired outcomes in line with the business strategy.
  • Own and deliver on change management across the WM business for rollout of new products or incremental change to existing ones. Develops and executes a communication and change management plan
  • Implements and tracks adoption of a data governance framework across critical data for the unit
  • Implements solutions to improve data governance maturity. Implements management information reporting and tracking around data governance
  • Develops and executes a communication and change management plan
  • Collaborates with senior management in developing recommendations around policies, standards, and framework for data governance
  • Collaborates with partners across the organization in developing and maintaining data governance structures ensuring we are meeting business needs while balancing quality, risk and cost
  • Engages with the industry to learn about best practices and gain insightful competitive and regulatory intelligence to help in building excellence in our data governance initiatives
  • Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues
  • Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity
  • Guided by policies and departmental plan, impacts the team’s ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives

Knowledge / Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Extensive exposure of building, owning and operating data products in Financial Services context, including bridging the gap between technology change delivery function and actual business users.
  • In-depth data governance & data management knowledge is required
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change
  • Strong product management rollout experience required
  • Ability to work in a fast pace, dynamic environment with limited direction
  • Applies understanding of the business and how own area integrates with others to achieve departmental objectives
  • Guides and influences others either internally or externally to adopt a different point of view

Experience

  • Graduate from IIT/IIM or Tier 1 institutes along with 12+ years of experience into data governance and data product management is required.
  • Strong industry / client /business exposure in at least one of Investment/Asset Management, Capital Markets, Investment Banking or Wealth Management industries is a must.

Eligibility for Internal Partners

3 years qualifies for Section Manager/Ops Manager (This may need prior people management experience, to check with the HM and verify details with HRA/BP from tenure standpoint) or 1 year qualifies for a Sr Consultant or 2 years qualifies for a Specialist
