The Data Science teams at MCG are producing innovated and industry-changing solutions based on our exceptional medical content and deep clinical experience. We are hiring a senior engineer to build and operate the internal APIs that will expose these exciting new solutions within MCG’s technology ecosystem.
As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will focus on all the delivery aspects, not just the API surface. You will be part of the team that determines & monitors the load capacity, implements the deep observability required for continuous improvement, and supports internal teams as they integrate. New solutions are emerging and evolving rapidly, and you’ll be on the team that owns the experiment-to-production path.
AI-assisted & human-owned development is the standard on this team. We expect engineers to be excellent at discerning when and how to use AI tools. Team cohesion is critical for the pace of development, so you’ll be joining a high respect high and high personal accountability team.
You will:
- Implement and maintain network delivery solutions for MCG Data Science SDKs (deployment, security, auth, observability, processes, etc).
- Work closely with teammates to understand integration contracts, implement to spec, and surface early blockers
- Write and maintain documentation and runbooks for the systems you own.
- Participate in on-call rotation for the internal platform services; respond to incidents, own post-incident reviews, and drive reliability improvements from what is learned.
- Provide expert code reviews and technical mentorship within the team.
- Design solutions on modern infrastructure (cloud solutions, k8s, LLMs) with expert level understanding of what and why, not just being able to call infrastructure or run pipelines.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with meaningful time spent building backend services or service integrations
- Deep experience with back-end languages such as Python and Golang.
- You’re comfortable paired programming and design solutions considering the team ability to maintain it.
- Strong written communication; you document what you build and your documentation holds up over time
- Experience building integrations in a distributed systems environment; you understand async patterns, idempotency, and failure handling in practice
