Job Opportunity: Family Practice Physician (FPP)
Location: Naval Branch Health Clinic (NBHC), Meridian, Mississippi
Start: Immediately
Schedule: Full-time; Monday – Friday, 8.5 to 9-hour shifts between 0700 and 1600 (max 80 hours per 2-week period)

We are seeking a Family Practice Physician to provide comprehensive clinical, preventive, and therapeutic care to active-duty service members, their families, and other eligible beneficiaries at the Naval Branch Health Clinic in Meridian, Mississippi.

As Primary Care Manager (PCM) you'll deliver full-scope primary care in a collaborative military treatment facility environment — with no after-hours on-call requirement.

What You’ll Do
Clinical Care
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat patients across all age ranges for acute illnesses, chronic conditions, and general health maintenance.
  • Perform minor surgical and clinical procedures; order and interpret laboratory and radiological tests; prescribe appropriate medications.
  • Serve as Primary Care Manager for approximately 1,000 to 1,300 TRICARE Prime beneficiaries, plus space-available, non-enrolled patients as directed.
  • Coordinate with the on-call hospitalist or admitting service for patients requiring hospital admission, in accordance with local MTF protocols.
Preventive Medicine
  • Conduct routine wellness exams, prescribe immunizations, and provide health promotion and disease prevention counseling.
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals and education on positive health behaviors and self-care skills.
Military Readiness
  • Perform required military physical examinations, including periodic health assessments (PHAs), deployment-limiting medical condition evaluations, and separation/retirement physicals.
Occupational Medicine
  • Perform occupational medicine exams including pre-employment/in-processing evaluations, baseline health exams, periodic surveillance, and fitness-for-duty, return-to-work, and disability evaluations.
Medical Documentation
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient records within the DoD Electronic Health Record system (MHS GENESIS) in accordance with MTF standards.
Referrals & Consultations
  • Generate appropriate referrals to medical specialists and ancillary services when clinically indicated, and request consultations with appropriate physicians, clinics, or health resources.
Team Collaboration
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of military and civilian healthcare professionals, including nurses and corpsmen/medics.
  • Provide medical guidance to ancillary clinic staff and participate in the instruction and in-service training of other HCPs, adhering to Government and professional clinical standards.

  • You're adaptable to a scheduled, government-coordinated shift structure and comfortable working within military medicine standards and protocols.

Qualifications
Education
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a medical school accredited by the LCME, COCA, or an equivalent accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and ACGME (foreign-trained physicians must demonstrate equivalency via ECFMG certification, a fifth pathway certificate, or USMLE completion).
Residency & Board Certification
  • Successful completion of an accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP).
Licensure & Certifications
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification (hands-on, AHA or ARC — web-based courses not accepted).
  • Valid DEA registration.
Experience
  • Pertinent clinical experience within the past two (2) years sufficient to demonstrate current clinical competency for the setting and procedures required.
Work Authorization
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible to pass a Tier 1 background investigation (National Agency Check with Inquiries) for a Common Access Card (CAC).
