We are hiring a Pharmacy Specialist at BCBST!

In this role, you will support the Senior Care Outreach and Retention team by serving as a key point of contact for members navigating their pharmacy and healthcare needs. You will focus on medication adherence and member education, helping ensure members understand their prescriptions, benefits, and available resources to support their overall health and well-being.

This position combines inbound and outbound phone support, allowing you to engage directly with members while providing guidance and assistance related to their medications and health plan benefits. You will build meaningful connections with members, address questions and concerns, and help remove barriers that may impact medication adherence and health outcomes.

You will play an important role in improving the member experience by delivering compassionate, member-centered support and helping members stay engaged in their care. Responsibilities include documenting interactions, collaborating with internal teams, and contributing to outreach efforts that promote quality care and positive health outcomes.

The ideal candidate is a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for helping others. Preferred qualifications include proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and Copilot, as well as a basic understanding of medications evaluated under Medicare's Star Ratings system and the impact of medication adherence on member outcomes.

Note:

• This is a remote role within a collaborative and supportive team environment
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:45 a.m. – 5:15 p.m. EST
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification is required for this role
• Position includes both inbound and outbound member phone interactions throughout the day

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, updating, maintaining and monitoring pharmacy information disseminated to external and internal customers (as necessary).
  • Conducting outbound educational telephone calls regarding medication adherence to members, prescribers and pharmacists as directed.
  • Motivating members to become compliant by refilling their prescriptions and/or coordinating necessary communication or scheduling with providers and pharmacies.
  • Handling customer service inquiries and problems via the telephone.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • 2 years-Experience in a retail pharmacy or comparable customer service environment required
  • 1 year - Experience in a pharmacy setting with knowledge in medical terminology required
  • 1 year - Technical or operational experience required

Skills\Certifications

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or NHA) required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Must be a team player, be organized and have the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks involving critical deadlines with little or no supervision as well as part of a team
  • Experience in a call center or customer service environment.
