External Communications Specialist
SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide.
Job Description Summary:
The External Communications Specialist helps position SOLV Energy as a leading energy infrastructure services provider through strategic storytelling, media relations support, thought leadership content, and industry engagement. This role proactively identifies and develops opportunities to showcase SOLV Energy's people, projects, expertise, and impact while building relationships across the business to surface compelling stories and strengthen the company's reputation among key external audiences.This role is based full-time in our office in San Diego, Ca. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Media Relations & External Communications
- Draft and coordinate external communications materials, including press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, talking points, and briefing documents.
- Support media outreach efforts, interview preparation, and relationship-building with industry media and other external stakeholders.
- Monitor industry developments and identify opportunities to increase visibility for SOLV Energy, its projects, and its leaders.
Storytelling & Content Development
- Proactively identify, develop, and create content that highlights SOLV Energy's people, projects, innovations, partnerships, and industry expertise.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal subject matter experts, project teams, and business leaders to identify emerging stories, innovations, and communications opportunities.
- Conduct research and interviews to gather information and develop compelling communications content.
- Develop a variety of content, including thought leadership articles, project spotlights, and LinkedIn content.
- Translate technical information into clear, compelling content for external audiences.
- Contribute ideas that support long-term storytelling, reputation-building, and business objectives.
Industry Intelligence & Thought Leadership
- Monitor industry, competitor, and company news and prepare regular reports highlighting key trends, opportunities, and potential reputational considerations.
- Stay informed on energy, infrastructure, construction, engineering, and adjacent industry developments to identify topics and trends relevant to SOLV Energy's business and communications strategy.
- Support executive visibility and thought leadership initiatives through research, messaging development, speaking materials, and event communications.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations that support SOLV Energy's long-term reputation and communications objectives.
Digital Communications & Employee Advocacy
- Lead content planning, publishing, and performance tracking for SOLV Energy's LinkedIn presence.
- Support the development and execution of employee advocacy initiatives by creating engaging content and monitoring participation and results.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to amplify company announcements, project milestones, and thought leadership content.
Planning & Collaboration
- Maintain and coordinate the external communications editorial calendar.
- Partner with Communications, Marketing, Business Development, Operations, and company leadership to support integrated communications initiatives.
- Coordinate with creative resources to develop visual assets that support external storytelling and communications goals.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines while ensuring consistency of messaging and alignment with company priorities.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, content marketing, media relations, or a related discipline.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Strong interviewing, research, and information-gathering capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build relationships across an organization.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

$87,095.00 - $104,514.00
