Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Lincolnshire team is seeking a Manufacturing Training Coordinator. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of training plans for multiple departments of our fast-paced industrial manufacturing facility. Fully committed to engaging in safe working practices, learning new processes and procedures, and driving the team to meet operational and organizational successes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment by aligning with Novelis EHS standards, policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations
  • Lead the Employee Talent Development process, including successfully onboarding new employees, assessing department training needs, coordinating training activities, and facilitating employee career advancement and Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
  • Communicate organization and facility goals and objectives, performance measures, practices, and procedures
  • Support continuous improvement activities, including direct involvement in change management, strategic planning, implementation, integration, and auditing.
  • Support EHS Plant policies
  • Participate in internal and external audits of Plant training program
  • Serve as Department Administrator of the Novelis Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Develop and further Plant-wide systems for organizational development. This includes direct involvement in all phases of organizational change, strategic planning, implementation, integration, and auditing.
  • Schedule overtime based on the training needs of the company to appropriately have a cross-trained workforce
  • Order consumables to assist with production needs
  • Conduct toolbox talks and related trainings across all shifts
  • Continuously audit and update Work Instructions. If work instructions require revision, train operators accordingly
  • Lead the NOS Pillar Education & Training in accordance with the NOS Masterplan
  • Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two to three years directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and directly related training experience.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Desire to take initiative and develop a proactive relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationship.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Proficient computer skills with a focus in: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
  • Ability to work as scheduled (including overtime, weekends, and holidays) to support our 24/7 operations.
  • Ability to learn new software programs quickly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Operational leadership experience or human resources experience.
  • Previous experience designing training programs.
  • Lean or Six-Sigma Black Belt certification and/or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) experience.

Location Profile

The finishing mill in Lincolnshire Illinois is located 26 miles from Chicago and was established in 1966.  The facility cold rolls aluminum to a desired gauges anneals to tempers levels and slits the rolled sheet to size.  The facility which employees around 100 people produces mill finish coils for the building construction and transportation industries where its’ products are used for gutters siding soffits and facia.
