Senior IT Analyst – SAP Manufacturing Applications

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Analyst to serve as a trusted technology partner for manufacturing operations. This role combines SAP application expertise, business analysis, solution delivery, and direct engagement with operations teams to improve business processes and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will support critical manufacturing and supply chain systems, translate business requirements into technology solutions, and drive continuous improvement across production, planning, inventory, finance, and logistics functions.

This position requires strong SAP knowledge, the ability to work closely with business stakeholders, and a passion for solving complex operational challenges.

What You Do:

  • Provide functional and technical support for SAP manufacturing and business applications.

  • Support manufacturing execution, production scheduling, supply chain planning, MRP, inventory management, finance, and operational processes.

  • Partner with business teams to find opportunities for process improvement and system optimization.

  • Gather, document, and manage business requirements for enhancements and projects.

  • Design, develop, assess, and support SAP solutions, including ABAP development and reporting.

  • Lead and support application modernization and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Analyze complex business problems and translate them into scalable technology solutions.

  • Develop reports, analytics, and data solutions to improve operational decision making.

  • Support audit, compliance, security, and access management activities.

  • Coordinate testing, deployment, and user adoption efforts for new capabilities.

  • Build strong relationships with manufacturing personnel and business leaders to ensure technology investments deliver measurable value.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for manufacturing business processes and SAP solutions.

  • Delivers innovative technology solutions that improve manufacturing performance.

  • Builds trusted partnerships with business stakeholders.

  • Drives measurable productivity, quality, and efficiency improvements.

  • Maintains reliable operation of critical manufacturing systems.

  • Serves as a technology leader and mentor through deep business and process knowledge.

  • Continuously finds opportunities to streamline processes and reduce operational costs.

What You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.

  • Experience supporting SAP ERP applications in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations, supply chain, inventory management, and production processes.

  • Experience gathering and managing business requirements.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale business applications.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience with SAP ECC and related manufacturing modules.

  • ABAP development experience.

  • Experience as a Business Analyst supporting manufacturing systems.

  • Knowledge of reporting and analytics tools.

  • Experience leading application enhancement or modernization projects.

  • Familiarity with audit and compliance requirements related to enterprise systems.

Skill Descriptors:

  • Core Application Systems: Knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery services to internal and external clients; ability to use major production application systems in diverse situations.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, predicting, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Application Design, Architecture: Knowledge of basic activities and deliverables of application design; ability to use application design methodologies, tools, and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.

  • Implementation: Knowledge of how to run applications for organizations; ability to implement application software within an organization and help end-users perform specific tasks (ex: accounting or graphic design).

  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

  • System and Technology Integration: Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases, and technology platforms.

  • System Testing: Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.

  • The primary location for this position is Fargo, ND.

  • This role requires 5 days onsite.

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
