Escrow Officer

Pismo Beach, California | In Office, Five Days Per Week

Join First American in Pismo Beach and bring your escrow expertise to a collaborative, customer-focused team. We are seeking an experienced Escrow Officer who can confidently manage complex real estate transactions, build trusted relationships, and guide customers through the closing process with accuracy, professionalism, and care.

This is a full-time, in-office position requiring regular attendance at our Pismo Beach location five days per week.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Manage complex and higher-dollar real estate transactions, recognizing potential issues and coordinating the various components required for a successful closing.
  • Complete escrow transactions by determining requirements, clearing title matters, preparing and reviewing closing documents, and disbursing funds.
  • Review and clarify buyer, seller, and lender instructions to determine closing requirements.
  • Order title reports and assist with resolving title defects, liens, encumbrances, and other title-related matters.
  • Establish and maintain escrow accounts, deposit funds, and ensure accurate transaction records.
  • Prepare transaction documents, forms, statements, and settlement documentation.
  • Calculate prorations, taxes, interest, commissions, and other applicable figures.
  • Assemble and review closing documents with transaction parties, explain provisions and procedures, answer questions, obtain signatures, and confirm completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate the recording and filing of documents and prepare and distribute final settlement statements and title documentation.
  • Balance and close escrow accounts and accurately disburse funds.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and established risk-management procedures.
  • Stay current on industry practices, regulatory requirements, and professional developments.

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four to six years of experience as an Escrow Officer.
  • Specialized knowledge in one or more escrow product areas.
  • Valid licensing or certification as required by the State of California.
  • Experience managing complex residential real estate transactions.
  • Established local industry relationships or a transferable book of business is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of escrow and title industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with buyers, sellers, lenders, agents, brokers, and other transaction partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Ability to prepare professional correspondence, reports, and transaction documentation.
  • Confidence communicating with individuals and groups of customers, employees, and business partners.
  • Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, prorations, percentages, and other transaction-related figures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use escrow-related technology.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Ability to work on site in the Pismo Beach office five days per week.

This position is eligible for bonus pay and/or incentives for production or other goals. This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.

Pay Range: $35.54 - $47.37 Hourly
