Estimated annual base pay: $77,000 (Minimum) - $100,000 (Midpoint) - $123,000 (Maximum)

Summary:

This Mechanical Integrated Support Team (IST) Engineer will be in Rockford for the Air Valve New Product Development (NPI) and Production team developing and manufacturing high and low temperature air control valves for aircraft and aerospace applications.  These valves control air flow on-engine and are often hydraulically or electrically controlled. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on engineering support or ownership of investigations, testing, Root Cause/Corrective Action (RCCA)

  • Continuous improvement of product performance and production yield

  • Disposition of non-conforming hardware in production.

  • Works assigned tasks to meet schedule and may coordinate details with other departments.

  • Recognizes problems that are beyond current capabilities and learns from experts in the area.

  • May implement process improvements on a project level.

  • Performs work using conventional engineering practices.

  • Supports prototype builds and laboratory testing of mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems with some supervision.

  • Writes and performs component tests with some supervision.

Key Skills:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including internal presentations and basic technical writing such as procedures and reports.

  • Competent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a project team environment and communicate with customers.

  • May direct or lead the work of technicians, detailers, and designers.

  • Basic ability to understand and interpret industry and Woodward technical standards, including quality system standards and PLC processes.

  • Basic use and understanding of FEA tools and DFSS tools and methodologies.

  • Basic knowledge of engineering quality systems, including PLC, engineering change, and configuration management.

  • Basic understanding of component function and testing.

  • Learning manufacturing processes, drawings, GD&T, shop standards, and procedures, and how they impact designs.

  • Effective time management skills.

  • Strong CAD-based 2D and 3D application skills, preferably Creo.

  • Basic technical writing skills for EARS, procedures, reports, and related documents.

Other Qualifications:

  • 4 Year Bachelors BS degree+ 1 Year of experience or MS

  • International - Bachelors BS/University degree equivalent by Country AND 1 year of experience or Masters
