Overview:
US Payments Technology is seeking a skilled mainframe developer with strong development experience to design, build, and maintain scalable, high performance web applications to join our team and work on applications that support the Account Analysis Billing & Pricing systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cobol, CICS, JCL, DB2 and Easytrieve
The successful candidate will work on designing, building and maintaining high-priority, highly available applications.
The role will involve partnering with key stakeholders, teammates and technology management throughout the software delivery life cycle to meet business requirements. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the mainframe technology stack, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
- Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
- Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
- Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
- Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
- Automates manual release activities
- Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
- Responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements
- Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
- Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
- Design develop and maintain End to End mainframe-based applications using COBOL, CICS and relevant technologies.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, teammates and other engineering teams to satisfy requirements and deliver highly performant resilient applications.
- Participate in Agile development cadences and CI/CD pipelines
- Provide Level 3 support for the Account Analysis Billing & Pricing applications
- Stay current with technologies and propose improvements to tools, processes, and architecture
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be expected to Experience in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle/ Software Testing Life Cycle (SDLC/STLC) and their interrelationships.
- 10+ years of mainframe development experience using CICS, COBOL, DB2
- Proficient in JCL, Endevor, VSAM, Easytrieve+
- Proficient in mainframe assembly language
- Good understanding of NDM & SFTP
- Ability to work in an Agile development environment & working knowledge of Jira
- Excellent communication skills.
- Motivated, Self-Starter, Organized and ability to work independently
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Able to work in a separate location and time zones from other team members and meet goals
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Unix Scripting and Oracle PLSQL
- CA7 Job scheduler, SAS
- Z/VM and NOMAD operating Environment
- Knowledge of Application development using alternate tech stacks like Java or Python, Oracle or NoSQL MongoDB
- 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency in programming language(s) required for the role
