General Summary:

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), manufacturing process development, testing operations, and production readiness activities. This role works closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Production, and external manufacturing partners to ensure products are manufactured efficiently and meet quality and customer requirements. The position also supports Engineering Change Order (ECO) implementation, manufacturing workflow management, and outsourced SMT supplier coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Support

  • Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes and work instructions to support production requirements.
  • Identify and drive process improvements to enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and provide timely corrective actions.
  • Support production readiness activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Testing Operations Support

  • Support manufacturing test processes throughout product development and production.
  • Coordinate test requirements with development, quality, and production teams.
  • Support test equipment, test fixtures, and test process implementation.
  • Investigate test failures and drive corrective actions to improve First Pass Yield (FPY).
  • Ensure manufacturing test procedures are properly documented and maintained.

Control Workflow (CWF) Management

  • Maintain and support manufacturing workflow configurations and process controls.
  • Ensure workflow requirements align with manufacturing and engineering processes.
  • Support workflow implementation for new products and engineering changes.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure system and process accuracy.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Support NPI builds and production ramp activities.
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) reviews.
  • Coordinate manufacturing and test readiness for pilot and production builds.
  • Track and resolve issues identified during prototype and production validation phases.

Engineering Change Management

  • Review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in Agile PLM.
  • Evaluate the impact of engineering changes on manufacturing processes, testing, materials, documentation, and production schedules.
  • Coordinate ECO implementation with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure manufacturing documentation and process controls are updated accordingly.

SMT Supplier Coordination

  • Act as the primary manufacturing interface with outsourced SMT service providers.
  • Coordinate SMT activities related to NPI builds, engineering changes, production support, and quality improvement.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive resolution of manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Collaborate with SMT partners to ensure production schedules and quality requirements are achieved.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities involving external suppliers.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Production teams.
  • Support customer requirements and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Participate in technical reviews, problem-solving activities, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Provide manufacturing and testing expertise throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, NPI, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting server, networking, telecommunications, EMS, or electronics manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience working with outsourced manufacturing partners and SMT suppliers is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of SMT, PCB assembly, system integration, and manufacturing test processes.
  • Experience with Agile PLM and Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing workflow systems (CWF), MES, or ERP systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and coordination skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational capabilities.

Language Skills

  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with global teams and external suppliers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Server, Storage, Networking, or AI Hardware products.
  • Knowledge of DFM, DFT, PFMEA, and Process Validation.
  • Experience supporting NPI and production ramp activities.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 1+ year of Support Engineering or related work experience. OR Associate's degree and 2+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience. OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience.

*Completed advanced degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year (Master’s = one year) of work experience.
