Base pay range

$144,000.00/yr - $204,000.00/yr The team has the responsibility for evaluating technologies and identifying supply chain solutions that allow Meta Reality Labs to deliver products to the market at scale. The Manufacturing Test Engineer will drive the development and deployment of hardware test systems with manufacturing partners and third-party integrators. You will help define the overall product test strategy, evaluate test equipment and qualification processes, lead and facilitate the integration of test systems into our existing data tracking networks and factory control systems. You will be designing and documenting new manufacturing equipment with standardization and reliability as a priority, and creating test plans for validating existing equipment. You will be heavily involved in troubleshooting hardware and software issues on test equipment and automation systems.You work independently to plan and execute projects, working in a cross-functional team environment, and will be responsible for planning the design, development, and implementation of factory test systems. You will enforce manufacturability, testability, and ensure cost-effective designs are implemented for testing and automation systems, software, and equipment. This position will have responsibilities for NPI test development and sustaining support of production released tests and automation systems.

Manufacturing Test Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the manufacturing test strategy during the NPI and MP phases of the product lifecycle. Work with cross-functional teams to design and deploy the test solutions
  • Work with the Engineering and Capital Expenditure team to identify the most suitable supplier/partner to meet product requirements from both a technical perspective as well as supply chain and manufacturing considerations
  • Develop test requirements and methodology with the Engineering team, implement manufacturing tests at factory sites, troubleshoot and solve issues during product development and manufacturing ramp up
  • Interface directly with the Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and vendor teams to assist in the development of test procedures, including first article, reliability, environmental, production, and final acceptance testing
  • Work directly with the vendor and CM engineers providing guidance and support as necessary in test methods, equipment, and test set-ups
  • Coordination of travel to suppliers (foreign and domestic) to establish technical and manufacturing processes required during product development and volume manufacturing ramp, international and domestic travel up to 40%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of experience in consumer electronic product development and volume manufacturing or related experiences
  • Experience in Camera, Audio, RF, Sensing, Battery, SMT, Display, Optical testing, has an in-depth understanding in one or more of these areas
  • Experience with domestic and/or international consumer electronics vendors and supply chain management
  • Understanding of the fundamental considerations of building hardware in the development and volume production stages
  • Experience in managing detailed test coverages and improving test efficiency in the engineering and production phase
  • Experience in test automation and test frameworks to enable comprehensive test coverage
  • Experience managing vendor engineers and technicians, and building teams that deliver effective technical outcomes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience driving timely execution by setting clear priorities and deadlines with cross-functional partners
  • Experience with module and system test and manufacturing processes with direct experience in managing manufacturing test implementation and execution
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Demonstrated experience in defining, developing, and troubleshooting manufacturing test issues
  • Experience building cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience in a leadership position and achieving results with minimal supervision
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
