The Position

As the Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SHE) Officer for the Roche Budapest SSC Site, you will play a critical role in spearheading the strategic development, planning, and implementation of all environmental, industrial, health, safety, and corporate security programs across the site. Operating as a trusted tactical partner and strategic advisor to local leadership while serving as a direct leader responsible for guiding and managing a dedicated functional team, you will ensure absolute operational integrity, risk mitigation, and compliance with Roche Group directives and local statutory regulations.

The Opportunity:

  • Serving as the primary functional advisor to executive site leadership and managing the end-to-end site SHE, corporate security, and sustainability agenda.

  • Architecting progressive health, safety, and environmental frameworks while executing gap analyses to secure full statutory compliance and audit readiness.

  • Leading local physical threat mitigation, risk assessments, and the Local Emergency Management (LEM) ecosystem integrated with Business Continuity Management (BCM).

  • Overseeing incident intelligence, indoor environmental quality monitoring, and key corporate sustainability initiatives, including localized "Green Office" programs.

  • Managing direct functional team members and leading site-wide employee safety representatives to cultivate an inclusive, legally conscious safety culture.

  • Acting as the key liaison between local business units, global functions (Group SHE, Group Legal, CSO), and external regulatory authorities or emergency services.

  • Designing and deploying comprehensive training programs across the workforce to address occupational safety, physical security, and psychosocial hazards.

Who you are:

  • Holding a University or College degree in a relevant field of expertise is required, with advanced specialization in environmental health, safety, or risk management considered a strong advantage

  • 5+ years of progressive, impactful experience within Corporate SHE, Environmental Compliance, Safety Auditing, or Corporate Security is required, with direct people management experience considered a strong plus to effectively lead functional team members

  • Proven track record in process implementation, change management, and delivering strategic support to complex, matrixed global projects

  • Skilled at influencing without authority, balancing local business needs against corporate compliance, and confidently advising executive leadership

  • Proactive, adaptable, and calm under pressure, with exceptional situational awareness and decisive leadership during operational crises or high-pressure investigations

  • Professional English communication skills (written and spoken) are essential, with native or professional fluency in Hungarian highly preferred for local regulatory liaison
