About 1001
1001 builds AI-powered operational intelligence for the world's most complex, data-heavy environments. We turn fragmented data into a live, unified model of operations and use it to improve decisions and solve high-stakes problems. Our work supports government and large enterprise customers operating with critical workflows and messy, real-world data.
Our engagements start with forward-deployed teams embedded in the customer environment. They work with real data, build quickly, and iterate until the system proves itself, then scale it across the organization.
1001 is backed by Lux Capital, General Catalyst, CIV, Hanabi, Sanabil, and 9Yards. Our angel investors include Chris Ré, Amjad Masad, Karim Atiyeh, Kareem Amin, and Russell Kaplan.
About the role
As a Senior Product Engineer, you will own the quality, polish, and feel of the product surfaces we put in front of enterprise and government users.
The systems we build are technically deep. They include optimization engines, AI models, and unified views of operations that were never designed to fit on one screen. Your job is to make these systems feel clear, fast, and easy to use for people making high-stakes decisions under time pressure.
This role calls for strong frontend judgment and attention to detail. You can take something that works technically and make it polished and customer-ready. You notice visual inconsistencies, missing loading states, and interactions that take three clicks when one would do. You care about how the product feels, not only whether it functions.
You will work closely with real users. You will study customer workflows, test internal prototypes, and turn direct feedback into interfaces people trust and want to use. The hardest part is rarely rendering the interface. It is deciding what to show, what to hide, and how to make a dense operational problem feel simple without removing important context.
What you'll do
Own the quality, usability, and polish of customer-facing product interfaces.
Turn optimization engines, AI models, and complex operational data into clear product experiences.
Work with enterprise and government users to understand their workflows and decision-making needs.
Translate prototypes, customer feedback, and real-world data into production-ready interfaces.
Decide how to prioritize and organize dense information for users working under time pressure.
Design clear interaction flows, loading states, and feedback states.
Identify unnecessary steps and make important workflows faster and easier to use.
Iterate with forward-deployed teams as products are tested and scaled in customer environments.
What we're looking for
Strong frontend product judgment and close attention to visual and interaction details.
The ability to turn technically functional systems into polished, customer-ready products.
The ability to simplify complex operational workflows without losing important information.
Comfort working directly with users, prototypes, incomplete requirements, and raw feedback.
A focus on clear, responsive interfaces for high-stakes decisions.
End-to-end ownership, rigor, and a consistently high standard for quality.
Working at 1001
We take on high-stakes problems in environments where mistakes carry real consequences. That demands an uncompromising bar, real speed, and systems that hold up under live operations. The people who thrive set that bar for themselves and keep raising it. They own outcomes end to end, bring rigor to everything, and lift everyone around them.
