Job Description
**Join our dynamic Logistics Packaging Design / Engineering (LOD) team at our state-of-the-art Charleston, SC production facility and make a real-world impact. **
This role is designed for an individual eager to apply their academic knowledge to real-world production challenges, directly impacting the efficiency, quality, and sustainability of our inbound and outbound packaged products.
Hands-on experience awaits you in:
- Production Line Optimization & Support:
- Actively participate in troubleshooting packaging-related issues during production
- Support packaging line trials for new materials, designs, or equipment, collecting data and providing feedback
- Material Evaluation & Application:
- Assist in the practical evaluation of new packaging materials and components for their suitability and performance on existing manufacturing equipment
- Work with suppliers and internal teams to assess material specifications against production requirements and operational capabilities
- Contribute to the selection of packaging materials that balance performance, cost, and environmental impact within a high-volume manufacturing setting
- Process Improvement & Waste Reduction:
- Identify and propose practical solutions to reduce packaging material waste, scrap, and rework on the production floor
- Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives focused on improving packaging processes
- Technical Documentation & Standards:
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating packaging specifications
- Maintain accurate records of packaging tests, line trials, and material performance data
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with production operators, maintenance technicians, quality control, supply chain, and R&D teams to implement packaging solutions.
- Actively participate in daily production meetings, sharing observations and contributing to problem-solving discussions.

Qualifications
What you'll bring to the table:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- Strong enthusiasm for working within a manufacturing environment and a hands-on approach to problem-solving
- Basic understanding of packaging materials
- Ability to observe, analyze, and communicate technical information clearly and concisely
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with CAD software is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams on the plant floor
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
