Customer Success Manager, AI Deployments
About the Role & Company
CommodityAI is building the operating system for the global commodities industry, the foundational sector responsible for moving the world's energy, metals, and agricultural resources. Today, our platform actively manages billions of dollars of commercial contracts.
Behind every physical trade and shipment lies an incredibly complex layer of manual operations, with critical data trapped in unstructured emails, PDFs, and legacy software. CommodityAI serves as a digital operator that continuously interprets trade data, reconciles physical movements, and flags operational risks in real time.
We are a Y Combinator-backed company (W24) supported by top-tier investors, including Rebel Fund and the founders of YouTube and Reddit. We are currently building our customer team in San Francisco to take customers from signed agreement to production deployment, drive adoption across their operations, and turn what we learn into a repeatable process.
What You'll Do
As one of our first customer success hires, you will own the customer journey from sales handoff through onboarding, adoption, expansion, and renewal. This is not a relationship-management role. You will work alongside customer operators, our engineers, and our AI agents to turn document-heavy workflows into production systems:
Own the Post-Sale Lifecycle: Take customers live during the opening weeks of a paid pilot, then own their adoption, renewal, and expansion from there.
Run the Deployment: Act as project manager across several concurrent accounts, holding timelines, owners, risks, and dependencies, and surfacing deployment risk before it becomes a delay.
Translate Messy Operations: Learn how each customer works across trading, logistics, finance, and compliance, then turn those workflows into data models, business rules, approval steps, and product requirements.
Configure AI Workflows: Tune our agents and automations alongside engineering, reasoning about where an agent belongs, where deterministic rules are safer, and where a human has to review.
Own Commercial Outcomes: Define success criteria, demonstrate measurable value through pilot and renewal, lead executive reviews, and find expansion across new teams and workflows.
Build the Playbook: Create the onboarding templates, training materials, and internal tools that let future customers and future CSMs deploy faster.
Who You Are
We are looking for a technically fluent customer-facing operator with a strong track record in fast-paced environments who prefers context over control and takes ownership of outcomes rather than tickets.
3+ years in customer success, implementation, solutions consulting, professional services, or another customer-facing technology role.
Technical fluency without the engineering requirement: You are comfortable with data models, field mappings, APIs, CSV and JSON data, integrations, and system dependencies. You do not need to be a software engineer.
Deeply embedded in AI tooling: You actively use agents to research, analyze, automate, and build in your own work, not occasionally for writing.
End-to-end ownership: You have carried technical onboarding from kickoff through production, including UAT, go-live, and stabilization.
Strategic account ownership: You have owned adoption, executive alignment, renewals, expansion, and escalations across complex, multi-stakeholder customers.
Parallel execution: You run several concurrent deployments without dropping details.
Range as a communicator: You can hold a working session with a nontechnical operator in the morning and a customer IT team in the afternoon.
Bonus: Commodities, logistics, energy, or another operationally complex industry; workflow automation, document intelligence, ERP, ETRM, or CRM implementations; change management with operational teams; familiarity with SQL, Python, or low-code automation tools.
Location: Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate, in office four days per week, with global travel up to 30% to customer sites.

Commodities is one of the largest and most operationally complex industries in the world, and one of the least served by modern software. You will not be building another generic SaaS dashboard.
