As a Business Development Manager for our Grid Engineering & Interconnection practice, you'll play a key role in growing E Source's relationships across the power industry. You'll work closely with some of the industry's leading power system engineers and our Sales Director to turn strategic conversations with utilities, developers, EPC firms, and data center customers into signed engagements, helping ensure our work reaches the clients who need it most. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of technical credibility and relationship-building, brings strong judgment to prioritizing opportunities, and wants to contribute to work that shapes how the grid evolves.

In this role, you will:

  • Research prospective customers, including independent system operators and regional transmission organizations (ISOs/RTOs), electric utilities, energy resource developers, large-load and AI data center developers, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firms, electric cooperatives, and municipalities.

  • Develop, refine, and execute our iterative lead-generation process — including cold calling, cold emailing, LinkedIn outreach, and referrals — to actively prospect, qualify, and convert leads into qualified client meetings, and a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities.

  • Develop new business opportunities and coordinate consultative sales discussions with engineering and executive stakeholders.

  • Build opportunities for Grid Engineering & Interconnection services, including interconnection strategy, electromagnetic transient (EMT) modeling, transmission planning, Owner's Engineering, substation engineering, model validation, and power system studies.

  • Drive annual bookings and revenue targets through strategic business development, account management, and consultative selling that lead to signed purchase orders, task orders, and master service agreements.

  • Coordinate with engineering teams and the Sales Director to develop technical proposals, scopes of work, pricing, client presentations, and sales collateral.

  • Lead business-focused marketing efforts for Grid Engineering & Interconnection with developers and utilities, and grow market awareness of E Source's capabilities by participating in industry events, managing trade-show prospecting — including pre-show outreach and post-show follow-up — and executing a targeted communication plan with clients.

  • Track industry trends, E Source's competitive position, and the broader power industry landscape.

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for key customers, expanding relationships across engineering, operations, transmission planning, project development, and executive leadership.

  • Partner with sales leadership and account management teams to continuously improve our prospecting, lead-development, and opportunity-creation processes.

You’re likely a great fit if you:

  • Bring 2-5+ years of experience in technical sales or engineering consulting, ideally with utilities, renewable developers, large-load or data center developers, independent power producers (IPPs), transmission owners, EPC firms, or ISOs/RTOs.

  • You enjoy building relationships, asking thoughtful questions, uncovering client challenges, and collaborating with technical experts to solve complex problems.

  • Feel confident representing E Source at meetings, conferences, and industry events, and can lead consultative sales conversations with both technical and executive stakeholders.

  • Understand the clean energy transition, data center power requirements, electric utilities, renewables, battery energy storage, and other emerging technologies.

  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and build trust with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Are task-oriented, prioritize effectively, and manage time well, even when juggling multiple opportunities at once.

  • Are an enthusiastic team player with a desire to grow into a larger sales role.

  • Are intellectually curious and inquisitive, and enjoy having conversations with prospects to uncover their top needs.

And even better if you:

  • Have existing connections in the renewables, data center, or utility space.

  • Are familiar with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms such as Salesforce and tools includng ZoomInfo and Microsoft Copilot.

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field.

Experience and Skills to Qualify Include:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in technical sales or engineering consulting services.

  • Ability to travel approximately 25–35% throughout the US and Canada for client meetings, conferences, and industry events.

At E Source, you’ll work alongside people who are thoughtful, curious, and deeply knowledgeable about utility and energy systems. We value clarity over jargon, substance over flash, and collaboration over ego. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your skills, contribute to meaningful work, and help shape a company that plays a real role in how the energy future unfolds.

What you can expect

  • Excellent insurance options, including medical, dental, and vision plans; company-paid life insurance; company-paid long- and short-term disability insurance; medical and dependent-care flexible spending plans, and paid parental leave.

  • A flexible time off (FTO) policy that provides paid time away from work, approved by your manager, while ensuring business needs, workload commitments, and appropriate coverage are maintained.

  • A 401(k) plan with a 3% employer match.

The budgeted salary for this position is $100,000 - $120,000USD + annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

This role will be fully remote, with approximately 25–35% travel throughout the US and Canada for client meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US or Canada. We’re unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas or Labour Market Impact Assessments (Cdn) at this time.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
