About the role:

Would you like to join bp and help us embed a strong integrated operating culture to support the delivery of safe, reliable and efficient operations? We are now looking for Well Intervention Engineer to join our team in Mumbai, India! From our Mumbai office, you will be supporting BP as Technical service provider for partners in successfully planning and delivering completion jobs.

Your main role will be to contribute to well intervention planning and engineering, job execution support, performance and lessons learned tracking related to wells within the partner Asset with an overall goal to improve processes, safety, well efficiencies and cost effectiveness.

  • Work within an integrated team of engineers and operations to ensure delivery of high-quality wells activity, in accordance with industry safety and technical standards.
  • Assures a suitable SoR is prepared for a proposed well activity (i.e., wellwork, well surveillance, or well integrity job).
  • Research well history information and prepare engineering solutions to achieve complex job objectives.
  • Efficiently and consistently applies wells standards, procedures, and practices as well as the appropriate engineering tools with daily tasks and projects.
  • Coordinates with Well Intervention Operations during job design to assure understanding and support for the job.
  • Tracks and reviews intervention performance, identifying lessons learned.
  • Support the cross-discipline reviews of intervention major NPT events and work as link between SST and WS.
  • Participate in and support efficiency improvement exercises such as 5WHYS, mini-RCFA and After-Action Reviews with other disciplines when needed.
  • Support the engineering feasibility studies of continuous improvement initiatives for intervention and wellwork operations in Western Offshore including SIMOPS.
  • Support technology assessment, piloting and full-scale implementation for intervention and wellwork solutions, Rigless interventions, and Downhole material selection.
  • Promote awareness and compliance with HSE rules and industry practices.

Essential Experience and Job requirements

Experience.

  • Minimum 6+ years of broad experience and deep technical completion engineering, operational and rig-based workovers skills, gained through diverse work assignments.
  • Experience of working in multi-discipline / functional project team and ability to influence others to provide quality inputs to ensure quality team delivery.
  • Aptitude to innovate and open to new ideas.
  • Able to manage multiple activities and to quickly respond to changing business priorities.
  • Extensive experience in rigless offshore platform operations (eline, slickline, digital slickline and coil tubing) preferably in brown fields.
  • Experience working in planning and execution of rig and rigless intervention activities, such as acid stimulation, hydraulic fracture, water shut off, zone transfer, re-perforation, GLV change out, ESP change-out, PLT/PLI, Saturation Logs, static pressure services, and well integrity remediation.
  • Proficient user of Engineering Software Packages such as WellCAT, WellPlan, OpenWells, PackPro, Cerberus.
  • Experience dealing with well intervention NPT causes such as wax/scale, fishing and well integrity related issues.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate confidently at all organizational levels.

Education criteria

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent program from an Accredited University.
  • Membership of a recognised professional body.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in various types of completion designs such as: OHGP, CHGP, cased and perforation, Limited Entry Liner, sliding sleeves, straddled and frac sleeves completion, dual completion designs.
  • Experience working in international JV’s and complex multicultural environments is preferred.  Appreciates the challenges of and value generated by a diverse working environment. 
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience in working with National Oil Companies is desirable.
