Job Description:

An opportunity for a Senior Armament Systems & Weapon Integration Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid).

This role is responsible for the end-to-end development and integration of armament systems, associated equipment and weapon/store integration into aerial platforms. The successful candidate will ensure that all systems meet the highest levels of performance, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout their entire lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Main Tasks and responsibilities will be related to Development of Armament Systems its associated equipment and Weapon integration activities in aerial platforms, including:

  • System Development: Manage the full product lifecycle—from concept to retirement— ensuring full compliance with regulatory frameworks and delivering systems that consistently met complex program requirements.

  • Technical Analysis: Perform trade-off analyses, validate architectures, and lead performance analysis to optimize system solutions.

  • System Design: Define architectures for Armament Control Systems, Stores Management Systems, and Weapon Bay/Carriage systems in cooperation with suppliers or partners. Lead the preparation and technical assessment of documentation for the design and development of armament systems and stores integration

  • Interface & Requirement Management: Define interfaces and technical requirements across system, subsystem, and equipment levels, ensuring coherent integration and conducting impact analysis.

  • Integration Activities: Lead the technical integration of weapons, stores, and armament systems by developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and performing technical assessments of both weapon-level and system-level architectures to ensure seamless operational capability within the aircraft ecosystem.”

  • Safety & Documentation: Prepare and assess technical and safety documentation for armament systems and stores integration.

  • Testing & Qualification: Develop system test benches and define ground/flight test requirements to support qualification and certification.

  • Airworthiness and Certification: Ensure airworthiness compliance through the management of qualification reports and the generation of certification documents.

  • Supplier Management: Act as the primary technical point of contact for suppliers, ensuring technical alignment and compliance with system requirements

  • Technical Mentorship & Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and ensuring adherence to high-level engineering standards and best practices

SKILLS

  • Education: Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering degree or a related discipline.

  • Experience: Experienced Engineer (5+ years required) in Aircraft Systems Integration.

  • Soft skills: High adaptability to work on new topics, new business and in a networking mode.

  • Languages: Advanced level in English & Spanish (both written & spoken).

  • Technical knowledge:

    • Acknowledgement of systems integration in aerial combat platforms.

    • Acknowledgement of systems development and validation (V&V process).

    • Acknowledgement in Aircraft Systems.

  • Valuable / Nice to have:

    • Experience in Armament/Stores integration and or development.

    • Experience in Armament/Stores Management Systems and associated equipment.

    • Acknowledgement of DOORS, Matlab/Simulink, C++
