Quality Director – Arcosa Wind Towers

As the Quality Director, you will set the quality strategy, build organizational capability, and ensure the consistent delivery of safe, compliant, and high-quality products across multiple manufacturing facilities.
This role serves as the primary quality representative and key point of contact for customers. You will lead discussions on quality performance, corrective actions, root cause investigations, and adherence to customer and regulatory specifications. You will be expected to communicate with confidence, represent the voice of the business, and build trust through transparency, accountability, and results.
This position reports to the Director of Engineering & Innovation.
What This Role Is Really Like
- You own the quality strategy and performance across multiple manufacturing locations.
- You are the primary quality contact for customers and are expected to lead challenging discussions regarding product quality, specifications, corrective actions, and performance improvement.
- You will facilitate customer meetings, provide updates on quality issues, communicate root cause findings, and ensure commitments are completed on time.
- You will spend time in manufacturing facilities, improving processes, coaching teams, and driving accountability where standards are not being met.
- You will lead through others, developing Quality Managers and their teams to create a strong and sustainable quality culture.
- Some days will focus on strategic business planning, customer engagement, and organizational development. Other days will require hands-on involvement in investigations, audits, process reviews, and problem-solving activities.
What You'll Do
Lead the Quality Function
- Provide strategic leadership for all quality activities across Arcosa Wind Towers manufacturing operations.
- Establish and execute a quality vision that aligns with business objectives, customer expectations, and operational goals.
- Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing quality organization that delivers measurable results.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Own Customer Quality Relationships
- Serve as the primary quality representative for customers and external stakeholders.
- Lead customer quality reviews, corrective action discussions, audits, and performance updates.
- Communicate quality performance, issue resolution status, and continuous improvement initiatives with credibility and transparency.
- Ensure customer specifications, contractual requirements, and quality expectations are consistently met.
Lead Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement
- Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions for significant quality issues.
- Lead efforts to reduce defects, improve process capability, and improve customer satisfaction.
- Ensure effective internal audits, compliance programs, and quality management system performance.
- Use data and performance trends to identify opportunities for improvement and execute sustainable solutions.
Ensure Compliance and Quality System Effectiveness
- Maintain compliance with customer requirements, industry specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal standards.
- Ensure quality documentation, procedures, records, and reporting systems are effective and consistently maintained.
- Support and lead external audits, customer audits, and certification activities.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, industrial technology, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum 12+ years of progressive quality leadership experience in a manufacturing environment and/or leadership experience.
- Experience serving as the primary customer-facing quality leader and managing complex customer quality issues.
- Strong expertise in quality management systems, auditing, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Exceptional communication, coaching, and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in structural steel, wind energy, heavy industrial, or related manufacturing environments.
- Certifications or training related to AWS, coatings inspection, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or quality management systems.
- Working knowledge of welding, fabrication, coatings, heavy or manufacturing processes.
