Who We Are
We are Ordnance Survey, Great Britain’s national mapping service and a global leader in geospatial data and technology. For over 230 years, our data has helped governments, businesses and communities make better decisions about the world around them.
Join our dynamic Products team
The OS Product team uses market insight to turn OS's world-leading mapping and location capabilities into products and services that delight our customers and deliver our business strategy
The team defines the vision and strategy for our product portfolios & services, identifying where we can create the most value for customers, and lead delivery from idea through to market. By combining market insight, product strategy and close collaboration with Data and Technology teams, we ensure our products are aligned to real user needs, perform effectively through their lifecycle, and evolve over time to maximise their impact.
The Opportunity
This is a key senior role within Ordnance Survey, translating market and customer insight into clear product direction for cross business teams, ensuring we remain relevant and impactful in a rapidly changing market.
As a Strategic Product Manager, you will be responsible for defining and delivering the product strategy for an entire product portfolio, made up of multiple products and services. This role is specifically for our Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) portfolio.
The Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) portfolio is OS’s suite of products and services that enable accurate, trusted, and resilient positioning capabilities across Great Britain. It spans geodetic infrastructure, GNSS positioning, and situational awareness services. This portfolio underpins national resilience and safety-critical use cases amongst others and is the primary portfolio which seeks to deliver our Ambition of becoming the National Positioning Authority.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the Product Vision and Strategy for the PNT portfolio of products and services
- Anticipate and respond to market trends, competitive dynamics and evolving business models, seeing the opportunity and bringing solution alchemy to shape and define the product response accordingly
- Build, manage and nurture external Partner and customer relationships via strong customer empathy to define and ensure our long-term roadmaps and product vision is grounded in constant evidence based customer and market insight
- Tell the product story – the Why – to inspire and nurture cross functional delivery teams to ensure optimal ways of working, collective alignment and strong overall business performance
- Act as the Product subject matter expert and be the primary escalation point for delivery teams for products and services in your portfolio – making it happen.
- Track and monitor the performance of large investment initiatives, ensuring product economics and strategic outcomes are achieved, working both internally and with strategic partners
- Contribute to, and help influence the wider overall Product strategy and vision for OS
- Provide people leadership and mentor one or more Product managers
- Lead, develop and support the wider Product function team members and communities, contributing to the growth of the product management capability across OS
You are a product expert and strategic thinker with commercial awareness and a deep understanding of how products evolve in response to market dynamics.
You will have a proven record of delivering successful outcomes in product teams and are comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, influencing direction whilst ensuring delivery of outcomes.
You Will Bring
- Experience in Strategic Product Management, market strategy or similar roles within a product, data or technology-led environment
- Proven experience of managing multiple products through their entire lifecycle, and defining the response for both customer and business – driving portfolio-level thinking not just single product execution
- Strong ability to interpret complex market trends and translate them into winning product visions and actionable responses
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to influence and manage senior stakeholders and external industry partners
- Acute commercial awareness, with the ability to see the opportunity, risks and investment outcomes
- A leadership style which drives collaboration, cross business alignment and a delivery ethos, whilst identifying and enabling growth opportunities for team members
- Knowledge of implementing product management frameworks and best practices, including product performance management, user centred design and product strategy development
- It is highly desirable that you have experience in the use of PNT capabilities in security and resilience settings.
At OS, How We Work Matters Just As Much As What We Deliver. Throughout Our Hiring Process We Will Assess Competence Assessing Alignment In How You
- Clear the path – Cut the noise, simplify and remove blockers so work can move at pace
- Seek the story – Listen fully, build understanding, fact‑check assumptions and speak up
- Do what matters – Focus on value, make deliberate stop/start/continue decisions, and recognise the contribution of others
We want you to love what you do and feel supported to do your best work.
Our Benefits Include
- Competitive salary and pension (OS contribute up to 12.07%)
- Performance‑related bonus (where applicable)
- 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with service)
- Enhanced family leave, including paid partner leave
- Hybrid and flexible working options
- Learning and development support, coaching and mentoring
- Free subscription to OS Maps and access to wellbeing support
- Volunteering leave and matched fundraising
We embrace a hybrid working model at OS and understand there is no one size fits all in relation to how we work. We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be required to spend a minimum of three days a week, inclusive of visits to customer meetings. With the remaining time being a personal choice as to whether you work from home or spend more time at OSHQ.

Interview Details
- A competency-based interview & discussion of your completed SOVA Personality & Leadership Assessment
- Interviews are scheduled to take place in person, at Ordnance Survey Head office on Monday 17th & Tuesday 18th August 2026

Some of our roles may require additional security vetting. We will advise candidates during the recruitment process if additional vetting may be required for that specific role.
Inclusion
We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that people may need during the recruitment process, and you will be asked whether you require any during the application process.
Research indicates that women, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ+ community members, neurodiverse individuals, and people from ethnic minority backgrounds often hesitate to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Ordnance Survey, we are dedicated to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and genuine workplace where everyone can thrive.
If you’re enthusiastic about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly match every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the ideal candidate for this or other roles within Ordnance Survey.
