Business Analyst
Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Analyst to support our Transmission Planning team in driving project tracking, process improvement, and data-driven decision-making across transmission planning engagements. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the business side of power systems consulting, working closely with engineers, project managers, and leadership to keep transmission planning work on schedule, on budget, and well-documented. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a willingness to learn the fundamentals of transmission planning and grid interconnection work.
Responsibilities
How you can make an impact:
Project & Business Support
- Track transmission planning project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation, flagging risks and variances to project managers and leadership
- Assist in preparing proposals, scopes of work, and client deliverables in coordination with engineering staff
- Support the development of utilization, staffing, and capacity reports for the transmission planning group
- Prepare executive summaries and status reports for internal leadership, board reporting and client stakeholders
Data & Reporting
- Analyze historical project and financial data to support forecasting, budgeting, and resource planning for the transmission planning team
- Develop and maintain dashboards and automated reporting within EPE's Business Intelligence platform (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to track project performance, revenue, and utilization metrics
- Own existing reporting processes and identify opportunities to automate and streamline them
- Support data organization and quality control for studies, models, and deliverables tracked across CRM/ERP systems
Process & Systems
- Become proficient in EPE's CRM and ERP systems as they relate to transmission planning project setup, tracking, and invoicing
- Understand, document, and help optimize internal business processes and workflows within the transmission planning team
- Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements that increase efficiency and visibility across active engagements
- Support AI adoption efforts by researching tools and applications relevant to transmission planning workflows and reporting
General
- Identify and communicate trends in project performance, staffing, and financials to team leadership to support better forecasting and decision-making
- Manage multiple projects and reporting deadlines concurrently
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively across engineering, project management, and business functions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Finance, and Operations to align transmission planning initiatives with broader company goals
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (engineering, project management, finance) and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) to drive analysis and develop deliverables
- Proven analytical skills, including the ability to gather data, analyze it, and present recommendations
- Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced consulting environment
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization, including engineers and clients
- Independent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with, or willingness to develop knowledge of, BI applications such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau
- Interest in or exposure to the power/utility industry, transmission planning, or grid interconnection processes is a plus but not required
