About this Role

We are seeking an experienced ESG Risk, Controls & Compliance professional to support Vodafone Group’s Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) compliance framework. This role sits within the Group Controls, Compliance & Projects function and plays a critical role in strengthening ESG governance, risk management, controls testing, and assurance activities across global markets. The successful candidate will collaborate with senior stakeholders, business process owners, auditors, and cross-functional teams to ensure effective ESG control design, testing, reporting, and continuous improvement in alignment with Group methodologies and evolving regulatory requirements.

What you will do

Deliver control compliance and testing activities for in-scope ESG Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Conduct Quality Assurance reviews of Control Self-Attestations (CSA).Track audit engagements and support timely closure of audit observations.Plan and execute the ESG controls compliance cycle in accordance with Group methodologies.Partner with business process and control owners to enhance control design and remediation activities.Promote a culture of effective controls and compliance across the organisation.Design and deliver ESG controls training and knowledge-sharing sessions.Coordinate with internal audit teams, external auditors, and global stakeholders.Identify and implement control rationalisation and optimisation opportunities.Develop ESG risk assessment frameworks supporting CSRD reporting requirements.Establish and maintain ESG risk registers aligned with EU standards and regulatory frameworks.Research emerging ESG trends, regulations, methodologies, and industry developments.Support the development of internal tools, methodologies, and accelerators.Contribute to strategic initiatives in partnership with global teams and stakeholders.Perform risk and controls testing for ESG metrics and reporting processes.Prepare governance updates and reporting for leadership forums and committees.

Who you are

Chartered Accountant or holder of an equivalent recognised finance, audit, or compliance qualification.Demonstrated post-qualification experience in Project Management, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, Controls, or Assurance environments.Strong knowledge of ESG topics including climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, decarbonisation, and social sustainability topics.Understanding of ESG reporting and regulatory frameworks including SASB, TCFD, CSRD/ESRS, and EU Taxonomy.Experience supporting ESG SOX audits and controls testing documentation.Strong project management, risk management, controls, compliance, and assurance capabilities.Experience in IT Application Controls (ITAC) and governance environments is advantageous.Ability to analyse complex business challenges and recommend practical, value-adding solutions.Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience working with senior leaders and global teams.Excellent communication, influencing, and collaboration skills.Ability to work effectively within changing regulatory and business environments.Strong governance mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.Telecom industry experience is beneficial.ESG-related experience is highly desirable.Systems audit qualifications or experience would be advantageous.
