Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Hospice Manager

As a Hospice Manager at MercyOne, you will provide leadership and overall supervision of personnel and hospice services.  Provides for and retains accountability for the 24 hour supervision of services and clinical staff in hospice.  Oversees daily operations and staff assignments for community hospice and Hospice House activities across 24 hours.  Provides clinical direction and feedback regarding performance of direct patient care and support staff.  Provides data and input into budget development.  Responsible for productivity management, new staff orientation and staff education ensuring compliance of staff with identified clinical skill development/competencies/practice guidelines.  This includes oversight of management of human, fiscal and material resources in accordance with agency guidelines, hospice philosophies and in compliance with regulatory and professional standards.  Key accountabilities include fostering interdisciplinary collaborative relationships using critical thinking and analytical skills to evaluate outcome data and designs/implements performance improvement strategies based on data and regulatory guidelines; actively participates in quality monitoring performance improvement activities and promotes evidence-based practices and identifies program development needs and assists in implementation.  Upholds and exhibits behaviors consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of Genesis Health System.  Functions as a member of the VNA administrative team

  • Full time 40 hours a week

General Requirements:

  • Supervisory Responsibility: Large Group/Multi-Level:  The job requires direct responsibility for a large department or unit of greater than 25 employees.  In addition to staff, incumbent directly supervises one or more supervisors and/or assistant managers who assist incumbent with managerial responsibilities. Incumbent has multiple shift responsibilities for staff.
  • Materials Responsibility: High:  Work requires a high degree of responsibility for material resources.  Examples of resources could include large operating or capital budgets for a large functional area, major plants, facilities or properties, or  other equivalent material assets.  The employee has a large amount of control over these resources.  The cost of errors might result in significant financial loss and affect overall corporate results.  The difficulty, variety and depth of problems associated with these material resources is moderately complex.
  • Key Relationships: Co-workers/Health System Employees, Outside Agencies/Other Health Care Providers, General Public/Visitors/Volunteers, Physicians/Medical Office Staff, Patients, Families, and Significant Others, Third Party Payors/Insurance Companies, Auditors/Review Agencies, Students/Interns/Residents/Outside

Education:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Field OF Study: Nursing
  • Special Training: Basic Life Support
  • Training Preferred: Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing
  • Licensures/Registration: Licensed in Iowa and Illinois, Valid Driver's License, Auto Insurance-Genesis minimum
