QphoX is looking for a new member to join us in developing and building our technology for scalable and networked quantum computing. We are looking to expand our R&D team with a Software Engineer. As a member of our team, you will develop software interfaces for controlling and operating the modem and supporting the next generation of research. You will learn about the operation of complex equipment in the laboratory, database development and quantum technology.
What you will be involved in:
• Development, implementation and support of software for QphoX’s product roadmap. • Developing and maintaining software for the testing, measurement, and operation of novel devices, including embedded software, firmware, equipment drivers, communication interfaces, and graphical user interfaces. • Managing software projects and communicating requirements, priorities, progress, risks, and technical decisions to stakeholders. • Working closely with physicists, engineers, and scientists to understand their needs, translating functional requirements into structured software deliverables. • Establishing and promoting software engineering best practices, including Git branching, code reviews, testing, documentation, and controlled integration into the main codebase. • Learning about laboratory operations and translating experimental workflows into reliable, maintainable software solutions.Skills and knowledge you will bring to QphoX:
• At least five years of software engineering experience in a high-tech industry, with strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python. • Experience developing embedded software or firmware, working with microcontrollers, and integrating software with sensors, actuators, measurement equipment, or other physical systems. • Experience writing equipment drivers and working with hardware communication protocols. • Ability to gather requirements from technical stakeholders and translate them into clear tasks, deliverables, and release priorities. • Experience managing shared codebases and applying good development practices, including Git workflows, code reviews, testing, and documentation. • Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across a wide range of technical disciplines. • A proactive approach to improving software quality, processes, and maintainability. • No previous experience in or knowledge of quantum physics is required.Supplementary skills:
• Experience with embedded Linux, real-time operating systems, bare-metal development, or communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, Ethernet, or USB. • Experience debugging embedded hardware and software using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or hardware debuggers. • Experience leading software projects, improving development processes, or implementing automated testing and continuous integration. • A background in mechatronics, telecommunications, robotics, industrial automation, instrumentation, or a related field.Our Ideal Candidate:
