The GE Aerospace’s Military Contracts team is a critical team member and a trusted and proactive business partner to the product lines within the business. Contracts is the face of GE Aerospace to our Commercial and US Government customers. We are charged with cradle to grave contract management duties in all phases of a Program, from proposal strategy through the full development, production, and sustainment life cycle. The contracts team provides expert knowledge in customer relationships and regulations, contract terms, price, and profit negotiation, risk analysis and mitigation strategies, and scope management. As an enabler to the business Contracts collaborates across multiple functions and is laser focused on achieving a business deal ensuring both GE Aerospace and the customers’ expectations are met.

The Associate Director of Contracts develops practical and innovative ways to identify and meet assigned goals. In this role, you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope in certain areas and will rely heavily on your understanding and experience to execute business objectives, with the ability to affect and effect short and long term business goals. 

This position will involve working in support of Commercial or US Government contracts (either as a prime contractor or subcontractor), and the position requires solid proficiency in managing various contract types (including complex development) in both the Firm Fixed Price Contracts and the Cost Reimbursement Group, as described in the Federal Acquisition Regulations and agency supplements. 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

  • Leads an organization of various levels of contract personnel in addition to having an individual contributor role in Contract Management
  • Interfaces with multiple complex customers at the Management/Executive level
  • Models GE Aerospace’s core Behaviors of Respect for People, Continuous Improvement, and Customer Driven, applying FLIGHT DECK tools, standards, and operating cadences as part of your daily work.
  • Requires specialized depth and breadth of expertise; responsibilities cover the entire contracting lifecycle, from receipt of solicitation through contract close-out
  • Requires strong commercial awareness and is expected to influence the development of strategy, including control of resources and influences policy formation
  • Uses high level of judgement to make decisions on complex tasks or problems. Develops innovative solutions beyond set parameters and offers actionable recommendations, leveraging multiple internal and external sources outside their function to inform decisions   
  • Leads functional teams or projects, communicates difficult concepts and influences others, and remains steadfast in supporting compliance without compromise
  • Provides negotiation strategies and guidance to team members as they prepare for discussions with Commercial, USG, higher-tier contractors, or other agencies
  • Ability to work well and cohesively with others, describe terms and conditions risks and offer mitigation ideas, leads negotiations, and partners with program teams and others functions in the process of offering compliant solutions to contracting requirements

  • Must have the confidence and the ability to work on your own, utilizing your skills to execute business objectives, supporting both internal and external customers

Qualifications/requirements

  • This is not a telework position.  Candidate is required to be in office with the option to flex depending upon program needs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • At least eight (8) years of experience in government, commercial, or international contract formation and execution
  • Solid domain expertise with commercial terms and conditions, Federal Acquisition Regulations, with emphasis in Parts 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items and 15 Contracting by Negotiation, and DoD FAR Supplement
  • Proficiency with Excel, Power Point, and Word
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and cohesively with teams
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Solid interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel periodically

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
