The Assistant Drive Up & Go (D.U.G.) Manager supports the overall operation of the Drive Up & Go department by helping lead online order fulfillment, customer service, associate development, and operational execution. This position assists in ensuring customers receive accurate, timely orders while maintaining productivity standards, service excellence, and department profitability. The Assistant D.U.G. Manager partners with the D.U.G. Manager and store leadership to drive sales growth and operational success.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations- Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Drive Up & Go department.
- Support the execution of online order fulfillment processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Monitor order volumes and allocate resources to meet customer demand.
- Ensure orders are picked, staged, and delivered according to company service standards.
- Maintain department organization, equipment, and supply levels.
- Support implementation of company programs, promotions, and operational initiatives.
- Deliver exceptional customer service during order pickup and delivery interactions.
- Address customer concerns, substitutions, and special requests in a professional manner.
- Resolve service issues promptly to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Promote a positive shopping experience through effective communication and problem resolution.
- Assist in training, coaching, and developing D.U.G. associates.
- Provide direction and support throughout daily operations.
- Monitor performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a customer-focused culture.
- Support scheduling and staffing to meet business needs.
- Monitor fulfillment metrics, productivity goals, and service standards.
- Ensure accurate product selection and proper handling of customer orders.
- Assist with workload planning during peak business periods.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and operational performance.
- Support department goals related to sales, labor, and customer satisfaction.
- Verify product quality and freshness before customer pickup or delivery.
- Ensure proper handling of refrigerated, frozen, and perishable items.
- Communicate out-of-stock issues and substitution opportunities appropriately.
- Assist in minimizing shrink through proper inventory practices and order accuracy.
- Follow all company safety, sanitation, and operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Maintain a safe work environment for associates and customers.
- Follow all policies regarding customer data privacy and payment security.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous grocery retail, e-commerce, or customer service experience preferred.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer and mobile technology proficiency.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
- Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to push and pull carts containing customer orders.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with order fulfillment.
