Job Description Summary
As a member of the Power Sales & Business Development team, the Senior Sales Director supports the functional area of sales and business development for GE Aerospace’s Electric Power & Propulsion business. This position will focus on the future of flight, with opportunities to meet customer needs across traditional aerospace electrical power systems as well as future electrification in the ground vehicle markets. This person will identify growth opportunities and will lead sales campaigns to capture new original equipment and services businesses, with a key focus on Power conversion & controls. While focused primarily on domestic markets, this role will have some international and foreign military sales exposure. Seeking those with a technical background and strong communication skills to confidently represent Electrical Power products and services to aircraft and ground vehicle OEMs, government, and armed forces customers.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Direct major cross functional campaigns and pursuits for the Electric Power business.
Responsible for account ownership, delivering growth on key strategic priorities and financial metrics.
Focus on traditional electrical power systems and LRUs, to include power generation, distribution, conversion, and integration. This position will also support technology building block opportunities that bring electrification opportunities to market.
Provide sales & commercial excellence leadership for the Power Conversion & Controls business unit.
Key customers accounts include military and civil aircraft OEMs, government organizations, and universities. Accounts can also include the emerging military ground vehicle market. Ability to flex between both civil and military accounts.
Build influential relationships with assigned customers at all levels and develop strategies to win profitable business. Identify, qualify, and develop opportunities driving growth.
Position also requires direct involvement and driving voice of the customer/market needs into product strategies, to include product and technology roadmaps.
Execute FLIGHT DECK, using standard work and daily management, developing capture and action plans to deliver growth wins for the Power business.
Leadership across the matrix as an opportunity owner, responsible for developing bid and proposal strategies to win new business. Develop and implement capture strategies and execute to win.
Direct partner with product line team to support production volume, customer engagements, and prioritization of pursuits.
Manage the development of numerous, complex, multi-million-dollar proposal efforts.
Partner with Contracts & Product leadership in negotiations as needed to close deals.
Actively engage with marketing and strategy leaders on overall product strategy planning
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, OR in lieu of a degree: a HS diploma/GED and 4+ years of relevant experience or equivalent military experience/training.
At least 8 years of experience in aerospace / defense industry business development, sales, marketing, commercial operations or program/account management.
Must be willing to travel 25%-50% to meet job requirements.
Desired Characteristics
Master’s degree in electrical engineering or business administration.
Strong technical sales background, with focus on power electronics and electrical power systems.
4+ years experience with aircraft engines or aircraft mission/vehicle subsystems.
4+ years experience partnering with US Army and OEMs on current and next generation programs.
4+ years sales experience in leading aerospace/defense OEM pursuits.
4+ years experience managing proposals, partnering with customers, contracts teams, financial analysis, and government entities.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong influencing and relationship building skills.
Strong experience in Salesforce applications, to include CRM, dashboard creations, tool creations.
Sound people management and decision-making skills.
Strong customer focus and results-oriented mindset.
Strong cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills across all levels of the organization.
Solid financial acumen to deliver growth on strategic priorities.
