As a lead engineer of Cloud Enablement team (Infrastructure-focused role), you serve as the technical anchor for the engineering team that supports a product. You create, own and are responsible for the platform architecture that best serves the product in its functional and non-functional needs. You identify and drive architectural changes to accelerate feature development or improve the quality of service (or both). You have deep and broad engineering skills and are capable of standing up an architecture in its whole on your own, but you choose to influence a wider team by acting as a "force multiplier". As a Lead Engineer on the Cloud Enablement team, you'll take the lead as you:
- Deploy, manage, and support cloud infrastructure solutions using Cloud services, particularly Google Cloud, with a strong focus on cloud networking.
- Implement best practices for cloud resource provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and security.
- Develop and maintain cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code tools to automate deployment and configuration tasks.
- Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of automation and orchestration.
- Use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain.
- Evaluate new technologies and participates in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target's technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership. Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies.
- Lead or set strategy for testing and debugging at the platform or enterprise level.
- In complex and unstructured situations, serve as an expert resource to create and improve standards and best practices to ensure high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables.
- Lead the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services.
- Provide the team with thought leadership to promote re-use and develop consistent, scalable patterns.
- Provide suggestions for handling routine and moderately complex technical problems, escalating issues when appropriate.
- Monitor workflow and risks; play a leadership role in mitigating risks and removing obstacles.
- Lead and participate in complex construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements met.
- Establish new standards and best practices to monitor, test, automate, and maintain IT components or systems.
- Stay current with Target's technical capabilities, infrastructure, and technical environment.

About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 9+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), cloud-native platforms, and distributed systems.
- Deep hands-on expertise across Google Cloud Platform services including IAM, Organizations/Folders/Projects, Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL/Spanner/Bigtable, VPC networking, Load Balancing, Cloud DNS, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, serverless services, Cloud Operations, and cloud security best practices.
- Strong software development experience in Go (GoLang) with proven expertise building scalable microservices, cloud-native applications, APIs, platform services, automation frameworks, and developer tooling.
- Proven experience designing and developing highly available, scalable, and resilient distributed systems running on Google Cloud.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Pulumi, Crossplane, or similar technologies to provision and manage cloud infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, identity and access management, security, observability, governance, and cloud cost optimization on GCP.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (preferably GKE) is highly desirable.
- Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, including reliability engineering, production operations, monitoring, incident management, and service performance optimization, is an added advantage.
- Experience with observability platforms and tools such as OpenTelemetry, Google Cloud Operations Suite, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog, or similar.
- Solid understanding of Linux systems, containers, virtualization, networking, DNS, load balancing, and cloud-native runtime environments.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and optimize system scalability, performance, reliability, security, and operational excellence.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across engineering, architecture, product, and platform teams.
