Whether or not you serve in a clinical role, every member of the Cleveland Clinic team is a caregiver. Serving as an Access Optimization Analyst, being a caregiver starts in the office. In this role, you will act as an advocate for access projects across the system, identifying barriers to achieving operational excellence. You will coordinate and implement change requests to the enterprise-wide EPIC systems to provide the best possible access process as well as integrate new physician practices into front end EPIC Systems.
A caregiver in this role works remotely across the U.S., Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with travel up to 5% of the time.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Be responsible for EPIC access projects, including planning, obtaining customer input and projecting resource requirements.
Manage physician practice integration into front-end EPIC systems including discovery, design, testing, implementation and optimization.
Analyze the impact on operational workflows, determine if requests are viable, and ensure requested changes conform to the Institute design.
Lead internal communication to ensure EPIC design and build standardization while continuously improving access.
Maintain the ongoing service relationship between the IT department and its direct application customer.
Lead change requests and analyze all possible impacts that will result from the requested change.
Verify Institute gatekeeper change approval and validate requested changes in production.
Verify accuracy of questionnaire and/or decision tree flow after implemented change.
Lead EPIC testing and validation efforts.
Assess priority of requests based on urgency of need, time requirements, project constraints, user efficiency and training needs.
Make recommendations of best practices while proactively seeking new system functionality and technology.
Work through complete project cycle from project identification through implementation.
Analyze flow processes and recommend ways to reduce steps and increase efficiency using technology.
Plan, schedule, and manage multiple projects.
Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Epic Cadence scheduling design and access-related workflows.
Responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing scheduling solutions that support patient access, provider scheduling, and operational goals.
Partner with operational, Access Transformation, and ITD technical teams to standardize workflows and provide functional guidance.
Implement enhancements and ensure scheduling solutions align with enterprise standards, best practices, and organizational objectives.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration or a related field and four years of EPIC system experience in an outpatient setting (preferably in an academic medical center)
OR four years of experience supporting EPIC applications that includes optimizing
OR High School Diploma/GED and eight years of experience in IT or a related field
OR Associate’s Degree and six years of experience in IT or a related field
EPIC Cadence Certification at proficiency level
Solid understanding of workflows in the ambulatory environment
Ability to lead, motivate, influence, probe, analyze, synthesize, and articulate complex subject matter
Demonstrated progressive experience and proven success in leading and motivating peers
Experience and comfort working at all levels of a health care organization
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Strong Epic Cadence build and workflow design experience
Thorough understanding of patient access, provider scheduling, and ambulatory operations
Experience with decision trees, Epic Masterfile’s (SER, DEP, PRC, PLS, SGRS, BLKS, etc.) work queues, Fast Pass, and patient self-scheduling
Ability to translate operational requirements into technical solutions
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and workflow optimization skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
