Responsibilities
Responsible for administering the affairs and resources of the Dentists Professional Liability Trust (DPLT) under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director. The Associate Executive Director will also assist in the management of day-to-day operations of the Trust, working closely and under the direction of the Executive Director.
- Serves the needs and interests of the Trust pursuant to the Mission Statement and Bylaws and as directed by the Board of Directors.
- Public Relations: Serves as one of the primary spokespersons for DPLT.
- Contact with Members of the Trust. Ensure members are appropriately informed, guided, and supported in their professional well-being.

- Measure effectiveness of membership-related initiatives
- Ensure updated membership information, brochures, social media and other items
- Communicate and welcome new members
- Engage in activities that draw members to the Trust
- Act as a main point of contact for other organizations and entities with whom the Trust shares a relationship and/or foster collaborations.
- DPLT Board, Officer and Committee Relations
- Advise and assist
- Provide information regarding policy matters.

- Annual Meeting/Retreat
- Act as main point of contact
- Develop and oversee all promotional materials
- Secure Venue and dates
- Execute contract negotiations with hotels, IT, catering, etc.
- Oversee pre-registration
- Coordinate speakers
- Claims Handling Responsibilities
- Assists members in identifying, assessing, and managing risks and potential professional liability claims.
- Reviews and evaluates new claims to determine coverage applicability under policy terms and conditions.
- Communicates with members regarding claims matters, including explaining policy coverage, benefits, rights, and the litigation process.
- Retains, directs, and partners with defense counsel to oversee case strategy, performance, and cost containment.
- Evaluates and documents liability, damages, exposure, reserves, and claim strategy to support effective claim management and resolution.
- May perform other functions as assigned
Qualifications
- Must have an active license to practice dentistry in the state of Colorado
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the practice of dentistry
- Extensive background in the administration of dental malpractice claims
- Familiar with the legal process and litigation management techniques
- Familiar with self-insured major medical insurance
- Ability to motivate and empower
- Thorough and objective understanding of general dentistry with willingness to listen, mentor and empathize
- Understanding of the unique culture of all phases of the dental practice and the dental practitioner
- Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication
- Strategic and creative thinker with ability to take larger strategy and insights and translate them into ideas and executable plans
- Ability to lead multiple projects, set priorities and manage multiple deadlines
