Responsibilities

In this role the Junior Embryologist will perform the following duties:

  • Provide laboratory services in the Human Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) laboratory.
  • Perform semen analysis and prepares sperm samples, including surgically retrieved sperm.
  • Recover oocytes and performs sperm preparation and oocyte insemination.
  • Assess fertilization and monitors embryo development through culture and evaluation.
  • Assist with embryo transfer procedures.
  • Perform cryopreservation of gametes and embryos.
  • Accurately document and reports laboratory results.
  • Conduct quality control procedures and proficiency testing in accordance with laboratory standards.
  • Monitor laboratory inventory and maintains equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Report directly to the Laboratory Director and communicates any concerns or issues promptly.
  • Develop and maintains knowledge of all aspects of ART laboratory procedures and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and Florida regulations governing Human ART laboratories.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the standards and guidelines established by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).

Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm

Days: Monday-Friday

Qualifications

Education

Required: B.S. degree in biological sciences, chemistry, reproductive biology or animal sciences

Experience

Required: Minimum of 1 year of documented experience in ART, including sperm preparation, oocyte retrieval, embryo transfer, conventional IVF and embryo vitrification.

Preferred: Experience in human ART, but consideration will be given for experience in animal models, such as bovine.

Licensure

Required: Florida license as Clinical Laboratory Personnel (must obtain within 1 year of hire

Certification

Required: American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB) or equivalent as a Medical Technologist (MT-AAB) with individual certifications in both Andrology and Embryology (must obtain within 1 year)

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation

Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose
