The Distribution Center (DC) Manager leads an hourly team to run the distribution center as safely, efficiently as possible. This role will handle management responsibilities for the employees under his/her supervision. This role is also responsible for ensuring prompt, efficient and accurate handling of products as well as developing and implementing team goals. The DC Manager plays an important role in hiring, terminating and carrying out disciplinary action of DC employees and leads a team of 6 to 15 hourly employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations

  • Promote and enforce a safe work environment.
  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, inventory control, and shipping operations.
  • Ensure accurate inventory through cycle counts and discrepancy resolution.
  • Maintain on-time delivery performance and coordinate carrier scheduling.
  • Monitor staffing and warehouse resources to meet operational demands.
  • Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and labeling standards.
  • Train, coach, and support employees while maintaining required documentation.
  • Conduct operational audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

Leadership

  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate team performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee development.
  • Investigate operational issues, identify root causes, and implement improvements.
  • Manage labor planning, scheduling, vacations, and staffing levels.
  • Track and report operational performance, productivity, and expenses.
  • Support short- and long-term business planning with Plant Manager leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, labor laws, and company policies.

Key Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a distribution, manufacturing, or fulfillment environment.
  • Experience managing teams of 6–15 employees.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, cycle counting, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience with ERP, WMS, TMS, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations; OSHA-10 and PIT certification are a plus.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in a non-climate-controlled environment both inside and outside of building
  • Work may require standing and walking for up to 75% of the time
  • Work is physically strenuous and are required to lift heavy packages up to 75 pounds
  • Work may require excessive bending or stooping
