HVAC Estimator

The HVAC Estimator is responsible for the estimation of HVAC projects, including performing quantity take-offs, assisting with equipment selection, and helping ensure the scope of work is accurately defined. This role works and collaborates closely with senior estimators, account executives, and project teams. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow within a fast-paced environment.

Position Responsibilities may include;

• Prepare accurate estimates for plan/spec and design/build HVAC systems using estimating software and tools 

• Perform quantity take-offs and support scope development for HVAC systems 

• Support equipment sizing and selection under guidance from senior team members 

• Work with assigned Account Executive Partner(s) to support sales of air distribution products, including grilles, diffusers, dampers, fans, louvers, and related equipment 

• Maintain estimating logs, job quotes, and assisting in tracking material and labor costs 

• Develop working knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and air distribution products 

• Attend internal and factory training sessions to build product and industry knowledge 

• Perform virtual surveys (Cubi Casa) and pre-bid walkthroughs as needed 

• Coordinate with sales, contractor relations, and project management teams to ensure project alignment with estimates and specifications 

• Support the preparation of equipment submittals and specifications 

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and additional projects as assigned

• Applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience

• Encouraged to seek continuous improvements

• Performs a range of mainly straightforward assignments

• Works independently with general supervision

• Problems faced are difficult but not typically complex

Knowledge & Skills:

• Basic understanding of HVAC systems and components 

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction documents (with guidance) 

• Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a structured environment 

• Effective written and verbal communication skills 

• Willingness to learn and apply new technical concepts 

• Demonstrates sound judgment, strong work ethic, and professionalism 

Experience:

• 1-3 years minimum in HVAC Estimating or related industry experience

• Exposure to residential and multi-family HVAC systems preferred

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  

• HVAC Vocational Training or Certification Preferred 

People Management: No

Physical Requirements / Work Environment: Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.  Travel requirement is up to 25%, with frequent need for overnight.  Travel could vary depending on job sites and home locations.
